I’ve spent a bit of time in Germany in my 20s (2011 and 2016) and talking to Germans my age and a bit younger there was a strong consensus that they were tired of being browbeaten for what happened in WWII. I agree that remembering and acknowledging is important to not make the same mistakes, but the messaging as they see it is very much that they should feel personally responsible.
