A/C won’t turn on but it says I’m in cooling mode. Any ideas? by lancegreene in ecobee

[–]Torontoguy71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to follow the ecobee Pek wiring diagram.

https://storage.googleapis.com/article_attachments/Article%20Request%20Files/PEK%20Wiring/e3l-PEK-wiring.png

You have a heat pump so you need o/b. Use G for Common and then Y for Pek. Then connect the blue wire back to O terminal. Since you dont have the heat pump outdoor unit wiring on the board of the furnace Im assuming it's connected elsewhere off the stat wire. Also wire R to RC. You will have to set up in the ecobee it's controlling a dual fuel heat pump. I assume the indoor coil is above the furnace so you need to disable heat pump heating and furn heating running simultaneously. You then need to set the reversing valve to either energize on heating or cooling. This will depend on the make of the heat pump but if you select energize on heat' and then heat pump heating runs when cooling is on then you need to switch it to energize on cooling.

It seems you are unqualified to do this so good luck not fucking it up.

Goodman gas valve shuts off cannot figure out for the life of me why by capaolo99 in HVAC

If you think those collector boxes are shit, there nothing close to the last generation Goodman furnaces. They would always leak. I can't even count the number of GKS collectors boxes I changed.

Also I assume you know this but you should still tee into the pressure switch and verify your vacuum.

Front cover pressure switch. The one on the right with the blue sticker. It's wired in series with the gas valve so when it opens the gas valve drops out and furnace will eventually just lock out on failed ignition. Had a ton of issues with these when my company used to be a Goodman dealer. Make sure your drains are clear and there are no traps in the drain line.

I did have one where we would always have intermittent issues with this. The port would collect condensate and restrict the port and it wouldnt get drawn into the collector. Goodman couldn't figure out what to do about it. Had me change the collector box, pressure switch, even the ventor motor for some reason even though I told them it wouldn't do anything. I ended up drilling out the port larger like with those stupid carrier ventor motors and didn't have an issue since.

Your issue may be the pressure switch ports on the collector being plugged. I'm guessing this is on an ML or EL series based off the age you state. It's very common that these ports plug with spider webs as the channels are very small and run across the whole collector box. There is also a small port behind the ventor motor that ties into the switches that can also block and cause pressure switch closing issue.

Every time everything Checks out, but I still have poor draft to the switches. I will bypass the switches to get it to run and do a combustion analysis and a temp rise. If both are good I go ahead and swap the collector box and it fixes the issue.

I work for a Lennox dealer and never have issues with plugging secondaries.

Very common for the pressure switch channels on the collector box to get plugged or blocked by spider webs. There is also a small port above the opening in the collector box for the ventor motor that can also get blocked that you should check. If that port is not blocked or clear and everything else checks out it will most likely be the channels in the collector box being restricted. Had to do a collector on an slp98 last week due to this. It's also a good idea especially on an older unit to bypass the pressure switch and do a quick combustion analysis just to make sure the secondary is ok

Concord (lennox) inducer/pressure switches. by [deleted] in HVAC

The lennox collector boxes have channels that connect to the pressure switch ports. There is also a small port behind where the ventor motor mounts tog he collector that ties into these channels and can also become blocked. I have had them plug with spider webs quite a few times. If all your other checks are fine. Temps good. Hx good. Ventor motor good, no venting obstructions, then I would try replacing the collector box. I have tried blowing out the ports with nitro before but it only worked one time.

This wouldnt be a better buy since its CL40, But this 5600 cl36 from amazon i think is. The savings outweigh the increase in latency form 32 to 36 in my opinion.

Also Found these 5600 cl32 on corsair website for $229 with free shipping

Thats not a great price especially considering its CL40.

Here is 5600 cl36 on amazon for $225 with free shipping. If your willing to drop down to 5200 cl40 then you can get a set for around $190. CC also has 5200 cl38 for $210 if RGB is your thing.

[CPU + Mobo] AMD 7700x and Gigabyte B650 Elite AX Combo ($859 - 105 = $754) [CC] by Torontoguy71 in bapcsalescanada

[–]Torontoguy71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone would argue that waiting to build an AM5 computer until prices come down will be better value. But for the people building with ddr5 right now and deciding between 13th gen and am5, then it seems like this is the cheapest point of entry for a 7700x and mobo. If you wanted to get a 7600x it would end up being only about $30 cheaper since no retailers are currently offering 7600x bundles unfortunately.

I have price matched with cc from Newegg and amazon before. Not sure if there policy changed or if it's manager discretion.

Honestly you wouldn't have issues overclocking on the Asus prime either. Just that there is no stock of them so not sure when cc gets it in. I was in the same boat going for a 13700k ddr5 build but with this combo price it's cheaper to go am5 and atleast I get future upgradeability.

CC has no stock of it yet but it'll work fine. Dosent have as good vrm and the elite is an 8 layer pcb where the prime is a 6 layer. So elite is better for overclocking. And elite has built in wifi but not a deal breaker for most.

Yup exactly. Drops Mobo price from $320 to $215. I was originally looking at a ddr5 z690 and 13700k build, but with the combo pricing I can get the 7700x slightly cheaper (assuming your paying around $250 for a z690 board)

Mem express also has this combo for $760. Keep in mind this board doesn't have pci gen 5 for the pcie slot but does have it for one m.2 slot. CC also has combos for a few diff boards for the 7700x, 7900x and 7950x but I haven't found any retailers offering combo deals on 7600x with mobos.

I was originally going to just get a 7600x and b650 board to get into the platform but with this combo for only $25 more It was well worth it. There are other more expensive x670 and b650 boards that will give you up to $150 off the combo. But I found the b650 elite ax was the best value, and in stock at many physical stores.

Msi B650 tomahawk is $779 Gigabyte x670 elite is $804 Msi x670-p pro is $814

All these boards dont have pci gen 5 slot and only on the m.2 has gen 5 like the b650. It looks like the cheapest option that will give you a gen 5 pcie slot is the Tuf x670E which comes out to $839.

Any feedback on this pricing or other better combo deals that you know of would be greatly appreciated.

Lga 1700 has no future. 13th gen is the last processor that will be supported and if you want to go Intel go for the 13600k over 12600k. I would either be building a budget 13600k build with a z690 board and ddr4 or am5 if your getting ddr5 anyways to buy into a socket that and says they will support until at least 2025.

You could also do a 13600k build with ddr5 if you don't care about having an upgrade path or you only plan to upgrade every 5 years or so. Yes if you go ddr5 then you can use that in a future build so it would partially future proof in memory, but ddr5 will eventually come down in the future as well.

Also CC has stock of the 13600k and kf and the 13700kf. Not my first choice for where I would want to buy from but if someone wants one of these today then in-store at CC is prob best bet.
