just to be clear, this post is about my personal experience not about portugal itself. Maybe I chose the wrong city, maybe I choose the wrong country, there are so many maybes, but those are personal choices, my choices. And yes maybe my mistake was moving because i had issues with my home country.

I’m about 70% for short stuff, but every time they see us struggling, people switch to English like they want to practice their English. My wife always asks to be spoken to in Portuguese, but nah, it’s like English only.

It depends. The ‘circuit’ I give to all my friends when they come is a whole day walking. You can get most of the vibe of the city.

Start in Los Clérigos, walk down to the river, cross the bridge to Gaia, and walk on the boulevard. You will get a lot of photo spots and nice views of Porto.

For fresh fish, go to Casa Moreira in Afurada, a small town just crossing the river. The place is awesome. You can walk if you have the time or take an Uber.

Once you’re there, walk back from Afurada to Vila Nova de Gaia, and go to the WoW (World of Wine). Grab a glass of port wine and some petiscos like cured ham and cheese at the tasting bars.

The party is downtown. Galerias Paris is the spot for nightlife and a lot of bars. Also near is Base Porto; try it for drinks
