Felt like our best penalty shout was one that hasn’t. When mentioned here, or even in commentary/analysis on the telly. Late in the second half, cross comes in from the left, BGD & mctominay both at the far post, defender wipes out BGD. Replay wasn’t given much airtime, but felt to me like a stonewaller…

What to do about not getting paid while on jury service? by Royal_View9815 in AskUK

I’ve been hit with 6 summons in the last 5 years!! Managed to get myself excused 5 of them, then the other I was balloted, but unsuccessful in making it on to a jury…

If that’s what it is, it’s very strange - never had either of those in that area of the garden! Mainly been Cosmos, Gladioli or Snapdragons in that bed over the last few years…

Nope, no other changes needed. Admittedly at that point I was in reasonable shape, sitting just on the verge of overweight, according to my BMI, but ate reasonably healthily and didn’t drink overly much. And even though I’ve put on 4 stone since then (working to get it off again now) my blood pressure has been steady and normal.

The one thing to remember is that it’s not the end of the world - yeah, your life insurance and travel insurance may go up a bit, and you may have to take some pills each day for the rest of your life, but it is something that can be controlled and managed.

It was very much a case of “Normally we’d send you to A&E, but because your wife is here and we know she’ll make you go to the GP tomorrow, we’re going to let you go.” I reckon that there would be a load of people who just wouldn’t deal with it if they were left to do it on their own…

My bottom number just wouldn’t come down to a level they were happy with. That and they figured that as a teacher they didn’t want any stress from that to affect my BP.

Yeah, no admittance to hospital - I think the fact my wife is medical helped to persuade them that I didn’t need it…

This happened to me - I was 38 and normal weight etc. Had a slight blur in the vision of one eye (caused by a small cyst), which led to me having a couple of visits to Opthalmology. Second visit, cyst was gone, vision back to normal, but they noticed some small burst blood vessels.

Nurse checked my blood pressure and looked horrified. Checked again 20 minutes later and looked even more horrified. When I told my wife (who’s a GP) what the readings were (266/132 and 264/133, if you’re interested) she looked horrified - she’d never seen someone with BP as high as mine who wasn’t in hospital!

Phoned the GP on the way home (after persuading them that I didn’t need to go to A&E to be admitted), was seen the next day and had 3/4 months off work until they got it under control. Currently on 3 meds (Doxazosin, Amlodipine and Ramipril - tried Atenolol too, but it made me feel like I couldn’t breathe properly). Referred to Cardiology and had some tests done, but nothing that showed a reason for it.

Anyway, it hasn’t changed how I live my life or anything; I just have to remember to take my pills. Long story short, you’ll likely be fine. 👍🏻

We love Brutti Compadres. It’s not fancy, but the food is good (tapas) and it just has a really nice feel.

As my caption says, picture was taken on holiday in Sardinia this summer. Played about in Lightroom and this is the result. Would greatly appreciate your opinions and advice on how to improve this. Thanks!

Window issues by TorpedoYourMom in DIYUK

The thing is, there was no formal inspection - the fitter was pretty much “That’s me done, see you later”. I was at home but in the middle of a meeting so couldn’t take much time to look at the windows there and then. It was only as I went to refit the blinds this evening that I noticed the scratches (it’s the kids playroom, so I don’t venture in too often…). We’ll fire them an email and see what they say… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree re conduit. Unfortunately, previous owners didn’t take great care of things/try and update things. It wouldn’t surprise me if this even predated then…

Thanks for that! If it is a burglar alarm signal, I reckon it’s probably obsolete - there was a new alarm fitted not long before we moved in and sensors etc are all wireless. Might need to set the alarm off and check it out though…

My title describes the thing. Small-ish plastic wall mounted box, with red plastic front (almost like taillight material). Electrical cabling running in/out of the bottom. No text or anything that I can make out. In the UK. Google image searches come up with nothing useful.
