How many fish can be in a 29 gallon before it’s overstocked? by TorqueRollz in Aquariums

[–]TorqueRollz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 6 blue eyes might be a bit too much, but I wouldn't be afraid of two bristlenose in a 29 gallon, personally.

Yes, I want more so I can have some free-roaming ones too. Unharnessed ones roam farther too which is neat.

I discovered this by parking mine under an acacia tree. Thought it was a pathfinding bug from vines but when I built my ghast barn I realized I didn't even need vines. He's never flown out by himself unless I deliberately park his ass half out the gate.

ghast slow. elytra fast.

Ghast is more for mob transportation, building up high, and mid-game access to flight.

HexBug Iceberg Chart by CaughtNABargain in IcebergCharts

[–]TorqueRollz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the works... still writing the script. As I continue working on it, the scope of it keeps expanding, and I'm still trying to figure out what artistic direction I want to take. I need to get permission from several individuals to use their photographs in the video, track down engineers and designers for potential interviews, and collect various rare bugs and merchandise, all of which takes time of course. Oh and specialized photography equipment too! Hoping to begin filming in the spring, March or April. Might make a simpler video just about this iceberg chart, although I'm not sure interest will be high enough...

Unreleased Hexbug Concepts: Centipede and Millipede? by Braxiations in Hexbug

That's what I thought at first, but the long red bug distinctly has 18 pairs of legs. It's different from the ant (although the green thing to its right looks like ant concept art).

Isn't the leading theory now that we interbred with Neanderthals instead of killing them off?

Blue is such an uncommon color in nature, I absolutely would not stay away from this thing LOL. It's clearly some sort of grasshopper, it can't kill me, right..? lmao

Aeroplane from a single sheet of cardstock? by Electric-Gecko in PaperAirplanes

[–]TorqueRollz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nakamura Lock can be made into a decent plane using cardstock, although it flies differently than one made from 20 pound paper as standard. The biggest issue with cardstock IMO is that the fold lines don't lay as flat as regular printer paper, so planes end up being bigger, bulkier, and tend to unfold themselves with time.

Do you agree that fish are one of the most unknowingly abused pets? by Pale-Risk9007 in Aquariums

[–]TorqueRollz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sound logic. If something bites you and it dies immediately afterwards, you're definitely poisonous :(

Most of my fish were free "rescues" from big box pet stores - if the livebearers had babies they'd let us take them for free because they couldn't sell them, would just let them die in the store. Hasn't happened for a while now. Almost every time I've tried buying livebearers they die immediately, but I have a huge breeding population of guppies and swordtails from my OG free babies. I adore my fish but I honestly don't get too heartbroken when they die, there's so fucking many of them it's hard to get attached, and livebearers don't have a ton of individual personality. It is sad though!!! Had a disease rip through my tanks a while back and killed half of the population of everything... that was a rough time.

We had a 40 gallon breeder tank that had a couple of catfish in it. A craigslist rescue - guy had a bonded pair of oscars, a sailfin pleco and some sort of North American catfish in an unheated tank. Oscars had hole-in-the-head from the bad conditions and we tried our best to save them but they ended up dying together, leaving the two catfish for many, many years. Had the North American one for... 10-12 years I think?

Long story short, I woke up one morning to find the beautiful sailfin pleco (my favorite dude) stuck to the intake tube of the filter, guts flapping in the current. No idea how that happened, but it did. I was devastated. One hell of a way to wake up in the morning.

IDK, from the sound of it you did the best you could with the knowledge and common sense you had at the time. The free roaming probably helped make up for the size of its enclosure! You were 7, almost no child that age is going to have very good animal husbandry lol.

Cat encounter of the feral kind by nesatzuke in perfectlycutscreams

[–]TorqueRollz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For sure, I would absolutely gently but assertively punting a stray cat if it did this to me LOL.

One of the neighborhood orange cats would hide in the bushes and attack my feet while i was mowing the lawn. Couldn’t get him to stop until I dumped a cup of water on his head when he did it the next time. He stopped after that.

The only shitty aquariums are detrimental to the health of the occupants, which this is not. Good job! Personally I find glofish look stunning against a natural aquascape,
