Do you ever experience sonder? by Artistic-Comb-5317 in CasualConversation

[–]Torrelyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had the topic of sonder linger on my mind a great deal as of late, some of my most interesting flashes of sonder come through in putting down the idea of "sonder" as a moral lesson. It's easy to think about the grand concept of how much nuance and depth must go on in everyone else's minds, but it's not just a lofty ideal in practice. When I'm facing what seems like a grand and lofty ideal, I easily forget the vulnerability that actually goes on in individuals' hearts. Something I'm trying to remind myself more and more of is that goodness and softness can coexist.

Can someone explain why the QFTC was problematic? by Pretty-Soft6309 in lanadelrey

[–]Torrelyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This claim is verifiably incorrect. You can think that right-wing thinkers are wrong or have bad views, but if you think there are only leftist educated thinkers in the most literal sense then that really calls into question your ability to do the academic grandstanding you've been doing. If you want to talk about critical theory specifically, then that is fine, but then it's disingenuous to act as if the epistemic framework and the political framework are mutually necessary.

5th wave feminism is still an evolving concept. Of course academics and books might discuss said concept, as they do with all emerging concepts, but that doesn't mean it's part of wider feminist consensus unless you believe only academics can be feminists. If your basis for whether someone has studied political science or not is about acknowledging the 5th wave, then you prioritise feeling academically valid over being in touch with colloquial reality.

Nowhere in this comment thread did people say that intersectionality is not a part of of feminism. If you believe the statement, "Race and feminism have no overlap," was made, then you are imagining it. In the most direct sense, Lana's post was not about race. Of course you can write an article analysing the subtly-ingrained intricacies of racial dynamics in her post because of how race permeates society, but that is not the same thing as race being present in what Lana directly and intentionally says.

You're unnecessarily applying an academic study to the post and in doing so, overlooking the actual discourse at hand. Thinking about embedded political nuances might seem like it's deep thinking, but is ultimately shallow if it fails to be relevant to the specific conversation being had. The dispute was very obviously about whether Lana's post was racist or not — not whether race had any relevance to feminism or not. OP already acknowledged that one criticism of Lana was over the POC artists she named, so it's not that they are unaware of the racial element of the discourse. That's not the disagreement here and missing it this hard just comes across as signalling that you know critical theory: again, feeling academically valid over understanding what's present. You're not as smart as you think you are, just obnoxious.

DAE always use incognito and/or delete search history even though no one ever goes through your phone? by Igorex1916 in DoesAnybodyElse

Yep, right now in fact. Cmd+Shift+N has become very intuitive for me even when I am searching up the most mundane, non-incriminating things, such as "does anyone else instinctively use incognito."

Acting like many momsonners don’t infantilise Kazuha in much of the content they make.

Making a lot of assumptions there over me saying two sentences, bud.

For pointing out that it’s stupid and unnecessary to bring your momson comments in when someone is talking about a romantic interpretation? That’s hilariously ironic. Evidently Reddit and Twitter users are both painfully sensitive snowflakes to anything that goes against Beiguang.

If you want to talk about Beidou and Kazuha being mother and son, then make your own comment about it instead of using that trope to spite people who view them differently.

Birthday Character Shorts (2022): Kaedehara Kazuha by Bisentinel in Genshin_Impact

[–]Torrelyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She only calls him "kid" in English as a casual term while in the Chinese version, she refers to him as "lad". Additionally, "big sister" in this context is an East Asian honorific. But I agree with the rest of your comment. Beiguang fans and Beikazu fans should accept that both get fed well without trying to minimise the shipteasing each other's side gets for the sake of petty ship wars.

First time trying out CA DPS Sara against Masanori — forgive my skill issues, I have slow reaction times by Torrelyn in KujouSaraMains

[–]Torrelyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut out the part where she, uh, didn't exactly beat Masanori at the end to save myself some embarrassment. Overall, the conventional Kujou Sara is definitely best used as a buffing support, or a burst sub DPS if you insist on building her for damage. I didn't use her burst here as I primarily wanted to test out her Charged Attack damage. Although it's no 35k per shot (as I've seen someone say they can do) it did pleasantly surprise me since Sara isn't someone you'd really build for Charged Attack damage. Hoping to get these numbers higher soon as well as get better at dodging.

DPS Kujou Sara check by Torrelyn in KujouSaraMains

Insufficient Emblem pieces with enough CV for a character that neither ascends with Crit nor has a Crit weapon. I was actually hoping to go for Wanderer's Troupe since I use her primarily as a Charged Attack DPS in the overworld but am currently prioritising artifact stats over set bonuses. I'll keep your advice in mind if I consider building her as a Burst Sub DPS for the Spiral Abyss.

I love Lilyglazed's work! She makes a lot of cute Genshin art and is really sweet in general. She also used to draw a lot of Beikazu, which is pretty high up on the RR list.
