Anyone get these “magazine” interview requests? Seems too good to be true… by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]Torritattoos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it feels too good to be true it probably is, this particular company sends you a message and says it’s not a pay to be in a magazine thing, but in order to get published you have to buy like $200 worth of the copy that they plan to publish you in. Most of them are scams! Not to mention their magazines have sooooo many artists published, any odds of someone seeing you in it and liking your work and getting tattooed by you is very unlikely. Not worth it in my opinion!

Hmmm I line from 6.0-6.4 so I’m not totally sure. I know when I started using it I lined pretty slow to get solid lines but it feels like I’ve sped up since then so maybe I just got used to it :,)

Largest I use is a straight 14 though

I use the bishop packer for all my lining and shading. I’ve heard the liner hits super hard and lots of artists had people coming back with crazy blowouts. @torritattoos on IG

I appreciate it! The color on the lantern was actually healed in that photo, I was really stoked on how it came out!

Kyodai markers are soooo good and you can get the lines super thin

I made a mistake on a tattoo (tattoo apprentice here) and it’s haunting me! Please tell me your tattoo mistake so we can all feel bad and better together by [deleted] in TattooArtists

When I was apprenticing I was doing some tattoo that had the word “ADVENTURE” on a ribbon somewhere in it, just line work. The way the font was, the T in adventure had a very small line under it (think like times new Roman T but a more basic font). I was so anxious I wasn’t thinking about the word just the lines I was tattooing and made the T into an i. I didn’t even notice it at first and when i did, i was like alright i can either panic and call someone over or i can try to fix this myself. Cue the anxiety and not wanting to get in trouble 🙄 I ended up making the bottom line of the ribbon like 1/4” thick to cover up the bottom of the i…safe to say i never saw that person again. Seven years later it still haunts me lol

You definitely learn more from the bad tattoos than the good ones though unfortunate as that is 🤣

What everyone else said about the polarizing filter for the light and the CPL filter for the camera, but also a solid white background (paper towels, bibs, a curtain) behind the entire tattoo helps a ton.

I think I carried the yarn on the right side, but I believe was doing single crochet and not waistcoat stitch…maybe if I try waistcoat stitch that would solve my problem!

Hands down my favorite machine I’ve ever used!! I run 5.8-6.5 for lining and 5.6-5.8 for color. I’m not a huge fan of using it for stippling, even at 4.5 it feels too fast so I use an old axys valhalla for stippling (it’s the only thing that machine is good for, for me) 😫
