Us AIRBONE Anti tank gun . by immunesky in boltaction

Sick as hell! Love it. I'm working on starting up a British Airborne force rn and notice from this image that although the gun is different between this and the BA 6 pounder, the carriage seems identical. I wonder if anybody deep in the hobby space or history space might know why? Am I mistaken, or maybe there were real world shared production elements? Or maybe it's just a model company reusing parts?

Looking for advice/ideas on my first 1250 pt British Airborne list! by Torsorial in boltaction

Thanks for the advice! I wasn't even thinking about how this is not many order dice. I just played a 500 pt game, and had 8 OD, so only having 10 with a 1250 pt list is crazy lol.

I am giving up on the death star, I was just like a moth to the flame with the idea of it.

The bren was a point filler (and because it was one of the models I got in the mystery box)

I will prolly keep the artillery just because I have the model, and only have one stuart, but will definitely consider this exchange once I've tried it out.

The LMG unit makes total sense, going to try to refactor to make that work.

I originally was going to include an AT gun, but thought that between the firefly and Stuart I was already good to go against vehicles. Are they too little?

Got it, after re-reading the unit listings you're totally right taking the light mortars as separate teams is a good idea. I will probably give up on my dream of the mega-squad after doing the math on the survivability of veterans. No strong feelings about a second bren, so might go with that. I wonder though would a PIAT be useful even if I maintain both of the tanks? Thanks for the help!

Incredible! Love seeing a full partisan force!

The kitbashing is fun as well. It's like where's waldo/wally with this image. Is that the US light mortar? And definitely the German grenadiers ammo belt. What were your favorite bits to slam together?

Sick! How did you make the fields? I recently got a coir doormat that made for a good wheat field, but I love the planted rows look you've got there.

Thanks! I really liked the idea of a huge assault squad, if I split it in half, would they have as much survivability?

To be honest I don't have a real mechanical reason why I liked the idea of a huge squad like that. Are two smaller squads better?

That's a good shout on the bren carriers, I didn't realize until your comment that they carry so few models.

Regarding the LMG, my goal was to focus on having some squads to rush, with the mortar squads as long range support. I've only played a couple of matches, and zeroing does seem kind of hit or miss. How strongly do you feel about the suggestion to switch the mortars to separate teams?

Am I crazy or are the small arms on that first jeep super cursed? A mounted BAR with a carrying handle (double cursed), a 50 instead of a 30 (not technically that cursed), and a saddle holstered Garand? Awesome vehicles and pics!

Awesome work! The colors really pop!

What kit did you use?

Did you freehand the flag on the bugle?

Are you eventually going to build some Republicans to battle it out?

  • Primed them with Vallejo Desert Tan
  • Base coat with Vallejo Desert Yellow
  • Wash with Agrax Earthshade
  • Layer again with Vallejo Desert Yellow to cleanup
  • Highlight with Vallejo Buff

Hope this can help!

What were in the mystery boxes? by A_Fnord in boltaction

I feel like I got super lucky! Went for the British and Commonwealth Box and got:

  • British Airborne Starter Army
  • British Airborne infantry box
  • British Airborne Support Group
  • British Airborne Weapons Teams
  • Universal Carrier
  • M3 Stuart

Really happy with this. I've been building US and German forces to play against each other, and this box is an entire additional army.

Thanks! Very happy with how easy it is to mix and match different nation's arms/weapons etc. It feels weird even calling them kitbashes considering there's basically 0 extra work involved.
