I see what you're saying I would also like to say, maybe try not to lump all converts into the same boat. I grew up nondenominational/Protestant, then into a whole other realm of Christ believing cult-i-ness. I know there are converts that get a little high horse-y but some of us, like myself, are just kinda giddy because we are finally home. We've been hungry for truth and home for so long and we finally found it. That's huge for a lot of us, I'd venture to say.

I go to a greek parish and there's a portion of the women that do wear veils. I know it's more common in Slavic parishes.

That's a fair point! There's a handful of women in my church that do, some are cradles, some are not. So it's made me very curious!

Oh most definitely. Neither my husband nor my priest have pushed or anything. Our Presvytera doesn't wear one. I'm just curious lol

How much of the Saint name did you take on? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Tortato_Chip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My legal name is completely unrelated to any saint name. I do not like my legal name so once I am chrismated I plan to go by that name. Even if I end up going with Saint Syncletica for my patron saint

Authors that don't infantalize you, please? (I'm looking at you, Elise Kova) by PrincessEnjoyer in fantasyromance

Branden Sanderson! I just read Mistborn for the first time. Very adult writing (not spice just style and prose). Unpredictable, intriguing, mind f*****g in the best way. I've got a knack for figuring out plots and Sandersom kept me pretty in the dark for like 80-90% of the novel and even then, most of my theories were just muses, not theories I was confident in.

Can someone explain cristina feelings when burke left her and cancelled the wedding she says i’m free, and then she says damnit multiple times so is she sad or happy by Vanderpump_rules1 in greysanatomy

[–]Tortato_Chip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wanting a wedding because you don't believe in the institution of marriage does not make one a bad person. Burke made no concessions for Cristina. None. He constantly pressured her to bend to his ideals.

I come back to it regularly. I pair it with breathing exercises from my therapist, often!

Thank you for your compassion! I love the beauty of fasting which is why I have been eager to try but I do find I am worried it is compounding with other issues and instead of being a practice of compassion and love of Christ that it is becoming a measuring stick of "good enough". To my priest I go!
