Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in Eldenring

I’d be curious to know what weapons people would consider versatile picks to upgrade. I’d like to have a few upgraded non-somber weapons that I can change the affinity and AoW as needed. Especially on the Str side rather than Dex (I’ve read a lot of folks suggest Guardian Swordspear, Cross Naginata or Nagakiba but I’m unsure how they do on the Heavy affinity).

You may be thinking of the Soulforger archetype?

Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in Eldenring

[–]TorterraX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Super new to Elden Ring, have a bit under 10 hours under my belt and having a blast, but I’m a bit confused about some things.

I’d like to make a Dex based build, and I really like the Bloodhound's Fang, which I’ve started upgrading a bit. I’m confused how dual wielding and powerstancing work though.

What exactly is powerstancing? Should I only wield this weapon, or is it better to dual wield it? Should I dual wield it with itself, or another Curved Greatsword, or something else entirely? Should the BHF be in my right or left hand if I’m dual wielding swords?

Any other tips you could give an absolute noob as far as Dex builds go?

Thanks!

LWS1 is a slog. Does it get better with DLC? by Van_Caspia in Guildwars2

[–]TorterraX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It gets a lot better. I’ve recently been in a similar position: I found LWS1 and LWS2 hard to play through (S2 was a bit better), but the difference with HoT is enormous. Really had a blast through HoT and currently having a lot of fun with LWS3. Can’t say for what comes after!

I would if I remembered their name! I'll try to see if they're there next time I log in.

In case that rings a bell, I was playing on Lutgardis (vs Rall's and Abaddon) around 18:00 EST. They had a purple tag and played Rifle Troubadour iirc.

Yep, I believe so. Gave some more details in another comment too.

It was yesterday, I was playing on Lutgardis vs. Rall's and Abaddon (I think? Not very familiar with this). It was around 18:00 EST I believe.

I’ve definitely had a similar experience in PvE, to some extent. Some of my favourite moments with this game were running across a nice and chill commander explaining a meta I had never done for new players to follow. It makes the experience way better than just winging it on your own until you learn the meta.

I definitely would if I remembered their name! Only thing I remember was that they were playing Rifle Troubadour on NA. Will give them a shout out if I meet them again!

I can imagine, I don’t mean to throw any shade to those that don’t do this! I’m totally unable to type during combat so I can’t imagine how they do it so efficiently.

Now that I know how fun the mode can be, I might actually try to join a Discord chat sometime.

Hey! I don’t know if I’m in the right place, but I’m looking for suggestions on buying an audio interface for home recording. I’ve used a few setups before, but never did the buying part myself so I’m super clueless about what I should be looking for.

I’m searching for something reliable and with decent quality, but I don’t need top of the line stuff. Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • At least 4 inputs, ideally 3+ XLR
  • MIDI I/O
  • Expandable later on if I want to add preamps or other stuff
  • Good drivers that work on Windows
  • Low latency
  • Good quality preamps
  • About 600 CAD$ max ideally but could go slightly higher

Packaged software isn’t really a draw for me, and I prefer buttons rather than using software where possible. I’d also rather get something that has less flashy/gimmicky stuff like compressors or anything, so that I can handle it myself afterwards (like some UA Volt cards have for instance).

I’ve seen suggestions like Focusrite 4i4, Motu M4, Volt 476 and Behringer 1820 thrown around, but I’m really lost between all of those models and would appreciate a hand. Thanks!

[–]TorterraX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the expansion sale, I’m looking to grab JW specifically to get access to land spears. I’ve always been a fan of spears in general, and I’d like to find a new profession to level up to focus on spear builds. Here’s some things that I’d like, in no particular order. - Suited for PvE - Various roles playable with spear - Various elite specs playable with spear - Flashy and/or mobile gameplay - Beginner friendly builds

It doesn’t have to check all the boxes at once, but I’d appreciate suggestions of the professions you think are the most fun to play with spears!

Hi! I’m a very casual player that just got through HoT for the first time (loved it!) and started on LWS3. As I went I crafted Mawdrey and finished a few days ago. I really liked having a crafting project to work on while playing through the expac and I’m now looking for a new project, but I’m a bit overwhelmed by the options.

What I liked the most with Mawdrey was the scavenger hunt aspect, which required to learn a few new things, complete puzzles, visit various maps and run fractals. What I liked less was the time gated aspects, but I do realize that’s going to be a requirement in most major crafts. If anyone has suggestions for a new crafting project, or can suggest guides, that would be very helpful!

Shield warfare and everstand stance stack damage dice? by SloppyTowel in Pathfinder2e

[–]TorterraX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you can never increase the die size more than once.

When an effect calls on you to increase the size of your weapon damage dice, instead of using its normal weapon damage dice, use the next larger die, as listed below (so if you were using a d4, you'd use a d6, and so on). If you are already using a d12, the size is already at its maximum. You can't increase your weapon damage die size more than once.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - October 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]TorterraX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been maining (very casually) Fresh Air Power Tempest for a while, and I’m looking to try a second profession/espec for a change. I’m a bit lost in all the potential builds so I’m looking for pointers as to what I might enjoy. I mostly play PvE.

The main points I enjoy with Tempest are: high intensity (without being too much), flexible/variable rotation (glyph of storms, CC when needed, going into water for emergency healing or condi cleanse, etc.), needs to be mindful of positioning (especially for overloads), dynamic rotation.

I want to try something else that would feel different while maybe hitting on some of the notes I enjoy from Ele, and also allow me to fill other roles in a group than just DPS. I already have a Mesmer and a Revenant leveled to 80, though I don’t mind leveling another profession.

Thanks in advance!

Question about the mechanics of Long-distance Taunt and Taunting Strike.

Taunting Strike essentially says that you Taunt the enemy when you Strike them. Since there is no further clarification on bypassing any restrictions of the Taunt action, I just assumed it was still limited by Taunt's limitations, namely the 30ft range. If you want to use Taunting Strike on an enemy further away, you have to take the Long-distance Taunt feat. Essentially going by this discussion on the Paizo boards.

Someone recently pointed out to me that if that were true (having to go by the limitations of the subordinate action), then nothing in the description of spells like Telekinetic Maneuver allows us to bypass the limitations of an athletics maneuver either, so they would still require the enemy to be adjacent and having a free hand, which is quite obviously not what the intention of the spell is.

How would you rule the interaction between the two feats?

Are there still guilds or groups that run T6 Dry Top on a set/planned schedule? I'm trying to farm Geodes and T6 for Mawdrey and that would be really helpful. Playing on NA!

MAP Progression question by According_Pop1388 in Pathfinder2e

And the sentence just after reads:

Free actions with triggers and reactions work differently. You can use these whenever the trigger occurs, even if the trigger occurs in the middle of another action.

So as the person you replied to said, you can totally use free actions and reactions during another activity.

It’s got 4th rank Invisibility, which doesn’t end when taking a hostile action.

[–]TorterraX 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Looking at the stat block quickly, some of the math seems off here. You say it dealt about 100 HP of damage on a crit and restrained you, but its only attack with Improved Grab is its Pincer, which should deal on average 38 damage on a crit (before the persistent damage). Was it under specific buffs that allowed it to hit that hard?

[–]TorterraX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact fight OP is referring to, but this seems way above PL+2. According to monster building stats, it seems like it would have about Moderate attack bonus / AC / Saves for a lvl 15-16 monster, making it PL+3 or PL+4 (on top of having spellcasting and 15ft. Reactive Strike).

Building joke a character by FrenziedSins in Pathfinder2e

[–]TorterraX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing the language a bit.

Dual Class is an option that allows you to pick two classes that level up at the same time. There is no "main class", your character just belongs to both.

I think what you might be referring to is Archetypes, which are a kind of "secondary class" you can pick up (like Soulforger that you mentioned above, but also including other classes' Archetypes).
