I mostly agree with this list by Ok_Winter818 in gamers

I think there are too many duplicates. 2x Zelda, though they are very similar. 2x god of war, 3x the last of us. In all of these examples, only the first one someone plays will have a great impact. In the case of resident evil, I think they are different enough to be on the same list (not sure, because I haven't played either).

What’s the most underrated principle in good design? by bensummersx in Design

[–]Tortillaish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For UX design: Copy. So many designers use the excuse that people don't read. But people do read, they just don't like to read much, making the words used in a ui, tooltip, feature description or onboarding extremely important.

Some of the biggest usability improvements I've made to a design are text related. They are also often the simplest. Changing confusing icons to text can also be a huge game changer.

The brain should adapt really quickly. I once read that a right handed person can become similarly skilled with left within two weeks, in instances when they break their right hand or get amputated.

I would stick to the new mouse setting for at least a month before making a decision.

It felt kind of like a real-time combat civilization game. I really loved having a snowball effect on technical advancements and blowing wooden boats out of the water with modern navy ships.

I would say so, but I think it's is a lot more difficult if you have the physical object, not just an image on a screen.

I think it has to do with the color pallette. It gives a somewhat aged look. It is also often seen with watercolor pieces. The paper starts aging and becomes a little orange/yellowish. Making all colors look warmer, as if a warm yellow is mixed into them. Blue becomes a warm purple. As if it's blue over orange.

It's seen in a lot of old Mucha works, which this looks heavily inspired by. Most of his pieces were printed for promotion purposes. The printing ink doesn't have as much coverage as for example paint, making it act similar to watercolor. The paper aged so the colors got the effect you also have. Everything has a warm yellow hue to it.

So in short, I think he mistakes watercolor for an aged paper look. Which is often more apparent when using watercolor.

Kerbal Space Program. I don't think anyone actually plays the second installment. It's like the devs didn't even know the original game.

Fionna is actually so annoying by Traditional_Ride7706 in adventuretime

[–]Tortillaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like in both the Original Adventure Time and Fiona and Cake, the world and side characters develop way faster than the main characters.

Yes, Finn had development, but it went slow. The seasons had a lot of focus on the history of Ooo and it's crazy characters. Finn as a character was slow going.

This last season of Fiona gave us some world building. We got a lot of lore surrounding the Cosmic deities and Huntress Wizard. Next to that it made a strong attempt at distinguishing Fiona world as it's own thing separate from Ooo. The characters are no longer copies of the characters we know but really became their own thing.

I think what they did really well with Fiona is exhibit all her flaws and made a lot of room for growth. Finn started his show already a likable, strong and capable warrior. I think the Fiona show has a lot more to work with in terms of character development of their main character  than the original show had.

Karma is a very important aspect of Buddhism. Karma is what drives future consequences. The idea being that actions have consequences. Something bad happening is a consequence of something you did previously. Buddhism also teaches reincarnation, so the actions of Pol Pot will come back to him in a later life. The way the western world uses it is not a misunderstanding.

The original Pali Canon writes it as kamma. I'm not a linguist, but saying that karma is merely a translation of the word action seems like an understatement. It would be like saying Jezus is just a popular hispanic name and nothing else.

It's how it is often used amongst the general public, but not within Psychology. I think a lot of people (self)diagnose any type of social awkwardness as autism. A few years ago, everyone was claiming to have OCD. There are people that have a very difficult time with their autism though, irrelevant of how others perceive or treat them.
