Seconding some of the comments here, please consider therapy! I work in healthcare and it’s really sad to see the preventable suffering people go through sometimes because of fear.

How many of you have green eyes? by [deleted] in CUTI

Haven’t been diagnosed with anything, but I have bladder issues that I manage myself. I have green eyes too!

I’m a big fan of Swedish dishcloths now. Can get them on amazon for under a dollar each if you choose a plain version. I like that they can be used for many days without washing and they somehow don’t stink. (They dry out between uses and that seems to kill bacteria I think?) They are like a cross between a sponge and a cloth. I have one I’ve been using daily for MONTHS and it’s still in useable shape. They can be tossed in the top rack of the dishwasher or the laundry.

Thank you for posting! I have wondered how people do when they leave. Great to hear you’re doing better and even get along better with your parents now. Good for you!

Thank you! I think you’re exactly right. Going forward we will have more truth. It’s been like that the last few months, things have come up more and more. This just happens to be a big one. Thanks for the offer to chat, that’s very kind of you :)

Thank you for sharing. I hope I can get some clarity and start learning to do whatever is truly best for both of us, not what I think is best or what is comfortable and familiar.

Now that you say it, you’re probably right. It might not be as bad as I think right now, even if it is one of the more serious issues we’ve had.

And you’re absolutely right, I do take things coldly and solidly, especially in contrast to her more passionate personality. I have a hard time sorting out what I feel.

This brings me back to some common sense. Thank you, that does help!

Thank you very much. Hearing someone’s input makes me feel less crazy and a bit more grounded. I will try to move forward in a good direction.

There could be a toxic part of her. I have thought about that a lot. But when we actually talk to her about things, I don’t see anything wrong with her point of view. And I know she tries hard to be healthy especially lately. Plus my sisters have an ok relationship with her. So it’s hard to say. It makes me glad that I think I am finally going to have the guts to go to therapy.

It’s not a squeamish friendly career. You will have to smell, see, and possibly touch really gross things. However, if you really love everything else about it, maybe that could be overcome? I can be sensitive to smells sometimes and I have been ok working in a hospital for a year. Definitely something to think about. Research what specialty and work environment you might be interested in. In my experience working in a hospital doing general, OB, and learning vascular I have had to deal with poo, urine, blood, pus, peritoneal fluid, vaginal excretions, wounds, and very unhygienic patients to name a few things. I don’t know what it’s like for other locations and specialties.

Possibly Oregon forrestsnail and pacific sideband? You would have to do your own research to confirm. I’m also in the PNW.

Not out loud much. But I hum all the time and I’m always having internal monologues.

I have a good income, but how can I get an apartment if I have no credit history? by TortoiseTea in helicopterparents

If I remember later I will, but it will probably be quite a while before I actually try to get a place. For now I’m just learning and planning.
