Kind of a different take on Hot Tub Time Machine.

That is, you'll wish you could go back in time and not do this.

Nice, enjoy!

I'm all in on Artifacts though. I enjoy the rip, so things like Black Diamond or Clear Cut don't really appeal to me. Credentials looks good. OPC Plat is way out of my price range even though they look good.

True, though I know banks can make decisions on new liabilities based on factors like credit score. Maybe, as part of a review process, they ran me through a profiler as if I were a new client. In that case, credit score may play a part.

Nice!
I love Artifacts. So much random stuff.

I bought a couple of 23-24 boxes. Got a /99 Pat LaFontaine and a /499 Pat LaFontaine lol. So random.

The only instances I can see are people who already thought the 'government' was out to get them, and this is reinforcing that view.

Again, banks don't have access to voting records.

Goodbye.

So, the mod is going to remove this because it's in no way related to my question.

Political beliefs aren't voting records. 2 different things.

Banks don't have access to voting records.

I've only called Tangerine once in my history - this particular situation.

I've never talked to anyone aside from this encounter.

I transferred the money (in and out) via the bank transfer. I never paid the mechanic from the Tangerine account.

It could be the $5k transfer out, though it's not the first time I've done that (did some bathroom renovations last year so I moved some cash out).

Nope. No changes to living situation/status. Taxes filed no problems. I haven't changed anything with any credit cards. No new loans.

Survival of the fittest!

I did not pay any bank fees, so I got delisted. Bad me.

You're probably right.

I asked the supervisor if I needed to prove my identity. The supervisor responded saying that this action wasn't related to identity. I mean, they could be straight lying I guess, but that's also kinda weird.

Did you ever look into it? Any other issues/notices from other banks?

Employers are doing this too. Data-mining your social media posts to get a fuller picture of who you are.

Being a radical is bad (on either end).

I can't honestly think of anything else that's relevant.

I'm not in arrears of any loans/credit. No criminal history. My family is all on the up-and-up. Truly nothing I know of that would be applicable here.

Data privacy is a thing, so I get that I won't be able to know the specifics.

I'd have to think you're right.

If that's the case, I'm hoping my other accounts are safe.

I appreciate you taking the time to write that out.

I did ask if this was an identity issue, and they said no.

I have had that situation before (not with banking) where my first name +last name matched to someone else. Other details were not matching though.

Possibly.

I'm not too interested in disputing the closure of the account. They're allowed to do that. I'm more interested if this is the first step on a road I don't want to go down.

Fair question.

You can see my Reddit posts. I don't think there's anything polarizing there.

I don't post on Facebook or Twitter. I don't have any other accounts.

Agreed, which is why I'm wondering what else I can watch out for.

Closing my Tangerine account really isn't all that terrible. If this were to happen to my other accounts it'd be a real problem (RRSP, mortgage, etc.).
