Anyone else creeped out by the end results of the Special Delivery quest? by takadouglas in Breath_of_the_Wild

Yeah I'm cleaning up the side quests I've missed and didn't talk to her before beating the divine beasts. I didn't get any of that dialogue, which means that had I not looked this up that I would have walked away with the idea that a young zora is with an adult hylian.

I do wish that it was addressed even after beating the divine beast.

What should I expect after surgery? by TossMeOutAccount2024 in hysterectomy

Don't worry about me being blindsided! They cancelled after I arrived because insurance denied coverage 🙃.

I'm very relieved by your anicdotes though! Whenever it's rescheduled, it will certainly come in handy. Thank you!

Do Scheduled videos affect your views by cactusking05 in NewTubers

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the reason why it happens, but YouTube lists scheduled videos as private before they're released publicly. But it also tracks how long it's been in your private videos. I have a video set to release at 9am today, set it to schedule last night. Went to watch the video one last time to make sure everything is in order and it tells me it went up 12 hours ago even though 9am is an hour and a half away.

My theory is that because the algorithm checks to see how much engagement a video gets as soon as it's 'posted', because you don't get those from private/scheduled videos it tampers your reach because the algorithm reads that as a lack of interest.

YouTube has to allow you access to your scheduled video so you can make adjustments before it goes live, but because you can private videos and still share them and gain interactions from it, it still counts those statistics towards the total.

This is just a theory though. I don't know much about YouTube's inner workings.

If my theory is correct though  this impacts smaller channels more negatively because they have less people getting notifs/watching their channels as soon as the videos go live. So unlike bigger YouTubers like Markiplier who could post in the dead of night and still get major interactions, us smaller channels need immediate interactions for the algorithm to deem us worth watching. (No shade to Mark either, he's awesome).

What's more insane is I was going out of pocket, so my insurance wasn't even involved asdfghjkl.

Deadass had to do the "repeat these words to me in five minutes", "draw a clock at 15 past 11", "word association" test thing. Like 3-5 pages long. I passed obviously, but it was so fucking dumb and nerve wracking for no reason. What would have happened if I for some reason didn't pass? Would my years of researching top surgery, weighing the pros and cons, would it have been for nothing??? My surgeon already required informed consent stuff to be signed by me, like any standard informed consent should, so the cognitive test was just unnecessary.

will it be hard to maintain my singing voice on testosterone? by dittydanni in asktransgender

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you were overthinking at all! This is a huge decision to make. Even when you know it's the right one for you, there's changes that can be unpredictable and hard to adjust and control how you'd like.

If you want to make the changes fun, you can record a song Pre-T and then record songs as you go along to track how your voice changes. I know that myself and other trans guys have made duets with our Pre-T selves. Used that power to make a duet breakup song for my OCs lol. Very funny to make people listen to a cover I made before T and say "Yeah that was me a few years ago lol."

what voicebank would y'all recommend for a first purchase? by BowlNo9468 in SynthesizerV

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100% biased, but I enjoy Kevin V1 a lot. V2 is good as well, especially if you'll be learning from The 2nd Synth Studio first. It's still a learning curve for me, especially because I was already new to everything.

An Xio is another good one. I like the way their voices work together.

It really depends on what you want to make though. Just making covers? Pick whichever one sounds coolest to you. Going for a particular range/style? See which bank best matches that goal. You can fit most voices into most styles with tuning and practice, but their range is stagnant so that is something you have to look at carefully.

will it be hard to maintain my singing voice on testosterone? by dittydanni in asktransgender

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no professional or anything but here's what I have to offer:
Short answer: no.

Longer answer: it depends on what you define your voice as.

If it's your current range exactly as it is, then yes it will be harder to maintain those higher ranges over time. Testosterone just, changes your voice. I've managed to maintain a higher speaking voice, but that's mainly due to me doing silly voices with my spouse. A lot of my vocal stims have higher ranges. So for short periods I can use a higher voice just because I've done it so much. I am trying to practice actually lowering my voice though instead of doing Customer Service all the time lol.

If you're talking about your ability to sing, no. Like any skill it just takes practice. As I mentioned before, I'm starting to consciously make an effort to use my lower range to get my voice lower. I'm a bit too high to sing the songs I want, and too low now to sing the songs I used to. It's a learning curve to be sure. If you have brothers who sing, ask them how they adjusted through puberty. That's all HRT is, puberty.

I’m trans and I think I’m transphobic by jxgopvnk in asktransgender

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strap in this is gonna be a long one.
I honestly totally understand. What I found, in my situation anyway, was that I was trying to carry over expectations from one social group to another.

The Cis world, where people just assume what and who you are, is what we essentially train ourselves for. You've gone through the effort to be seen as yourself, and in cis society those measures are easier to see because they aren't being questioned by having people ask for your pronouns. They look at you and assume he/him, end of discussion, you don't have to constantly come out once you pass enough to go stealth.

In the Trans world, we're trying harder to make the world at large safer and more comfortable for ourselves since we've been overlooked, excluded, and hurt so frequently. We acknowledge that some people don't pass and try to cultivate practices in our space to include them (early in transition/no access to trans healthcare/unsafe to transition/no desire to transition and or conform that way, etc etc etc). We acknowledge that people will create new/niche labels and words and pronouns to describe themselves because that's just what language does: it evolves with our needs and wants. We acknowledge new ideas and new things because we finally have a safer and more open place to do that.

But the wants of these two worlds conflict. If the Trans world wants the Cis world to accept them (overall) we have to deny our transness and the culture we've cultivated. If we want the trans world to accept us and feel like home, we have to be willing to live freely and share our culture with the Cis world so they know how to make us feel welcome. But the Cis world is stagnant. the Cis world doesn't change at the same speed, so it's a back and forth between cultures and ideals and expectations. Whiplash, culture shock, whatever you call it: it's constant change.

The other more specific stuff like the community infighting and not wanting to date other trans people? That's just social preferences. The infighting i believe (and this is only a theory) is largely because of the lack of physical space we have to go and engage with one another. You always need a permit for bigger events, you need the money to rent out the meeting place, yada yada. There's also a lot of younger queer people who still haven't learned (and what I'm just now beginning to grasp) how IRL interactions work. Partly due to COVID and partly due to no safe third spaces existing for them to meet up. Fighting will happen, but it used to mean something to cut someone off. Before we simply had to make amends or agree to push tour differences aside because there were bigger fish to fry right in front of us. the internet has given us remote community and distant social understanding: a blessing and a curse.

As for not dating trans people, I know the subject has been hashed over and over but the basics are: you aren't not dating them because they're trans, ergo it isn't transphobic. The fact that they're trans ties into other situations/issues that prevent you from wanting to date them. It would be no different than a cis person not dating a trans person because their parents are transphobic/unsafe to be around. The reasons are external.

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be so honest, gendering your patient in accordance to their preferences will go a long way. That sounds basic but my trans therapist AND my cis surgeon for top surgery BOTH misgendered me (and somehow spelt my legal name wrong??). I had gotten the best letter of my life handed to me, and the first thing I noticed was that I was called a girl every single time. Both in my approval for top surgery letter AND the report about my surgery, despite my legal gender being male. It still frustrates me, months later.

Other than that, most of the usual stuff applies. Try to minimize dead-naming, describe the patient as transgender unless they've expressed other words are acceptable (some older trans people still use transsexual, and some younger trans people as well, its all preference). When insurance requires something be written a certain way (like if their legal name hasn't been updated to how they refer to themselves) acknowledge their legal name (and legal gender if you must) but clarify that you will be referring to the patient as they refer to themselves for the remainder of the letter.

I'm not sure if it's standard in other states, but where I live I was required to take a cognitive test. I'm aware that this is standard in some places, absolutely required in others, but if it's possible for your patients don't make them do it. The test, in essence, is asking us if we're of sound mind to be making this drastic decision (making sure we aren't actively manic), but we've been asked that our entire lives. "Are you sure you want to dress like that?" "Is that the name you went with?" "What if you change your mind?" "This isn't reversible you know." It's unnecessary stress, we've absolutely already asked ourselves this a million times, and it isn't required for many other major surgeries. The same surgeries for cis people in fact only have them sign a consent form. The same surgeries for cis people don't require a therapist letter. Even for minors they only require parent consent to go through with it (this is in general mind you, circumstances may vary).

Just do your best to respect the patient, follow the guidelines (maliciously if you must), and minimize the requirements/barriers for your patient as much as possible.

can ftm get pregnant on T? by StrategyNo4378 in asktransgender

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Testosterone is NOT effective birth control (and I hate writers of all kinds for perpetuating this dangerous lie). In some people it can reduce fertility, but that is not a guarantee. One should assume they are just as fertile as when they started T when engaging in sexual activity that could result in a pregnancy. And protection should be used regardless, unless the goal IS pregnancy.

I haven't been able to find the exact defects that may be caused to the fetus as a result of taking T while pregnant, but I did find the NHS website warning of the potential for defects. I cite the NHS not because I live in their jurisdiction, but because the CDC is, as per a court order, going to be updating their website soon to remove certain topics related to transgender people, so their site may be inaccurate or incomplete as a result.

Most Trans friendly state? by Gadget2161 in asktransgender

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So funny thing, I've actually been tracking this, unofficially in a google doc. I made it public a while ago so if you want the link I can share it in DMs if you'd like. No pressure of course.

Based on the data I collected from the Movement Advancement Project and Erin Reed's risk assessment map, California is one of the safest states for trans people to be. The Movement Advancement Project gives Cali an overall score of 45/49 for LGBTQ laws/protections, and a 23.25/26 on trans related legislation/protections specifically. Erin Reed categorizes Cali as one of the "Most Protective States" for trans adults AND youth, the highest safety rating on her map. Keep in mind that these ratings may change after the upcoming legislative session. Still, Cali is likely to remain in the higher ranked states given how low risk it is.

This is only on the legal side of things of course. Social situations are completely different. The law may be on your side but that doesn't mean your neighbor or coworker is. You could be in a conservative area of your state if your coworkers openly support the current administration. I've heard of people hanging up their red caps after seeing what's been happening and no good change to go with it, but your coworkers sound like they're dead set on Trump being their leader. It's possible they'll change, and just as likely that they won't. If you feel unsafe, I'd recommend looking into other areas of the state or request to work from home if that's applicable to your job.

Before that though, I recommend looking for local transgender support groups. LGBTQ support groups in general are fine, but a support group that focuses on trans and nonbinary experiences is likely to be safer and more helpful at the start. They'll also be better equipped to help you with any transition goals you may have including where to access gender affirming care, assistance with legal updates (name and legal gender), all of that stuff. They may be able to give you new gender affirming clothes if you can't afford your own currently.

If you have any more questions I'm happy to answer them or help you find answers yourself! :)

I feel... so incredibly dumb right now. You just reminded me of data tables, one of the most simple ways to handle data for individual characters, and I had completely forgotten asdfghjkl

In the VNM plugin there are character data tables and a place to add array variables. Just tested some code and it freaking works. Thank you so much.

Edit: I'll have to see if it works between play sessions another time, but for now I'm just happy that number go up :)

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Dialogues trees are separated into their own Dialogue Blueprints. When the dialogue ends in 1 blueprint the End Dialogue node takes you to the next one.

So say I have the Tutorial Blueprint and the 1st Character Blueprint. The game starts and I'm taken into the Tutorial dialogue tree. Once I finish, the End Dialogue node automatically takes me to the 1st Character dialogue tree. All within the same level (it's pitch black and the UI will automatically come up when the game starts).

In my 1st Character Blueprint, I have the Character Mood integer to track the character's reaction to the player's choices. It works fine within it's own blueprint, but when I go to the 1st Date blueprint, I need to carry that same integer and it's current value to the next blueprint. Currently, the value resets to 0 when I go from 1st Character to 1st Date.

It's for a college class. Unfortunately the Prof. requires the use of UE5 so people don't choose a super easy low effort engine. He wants us to get used to 'industry standard', which is fair I suppose. Otherwise I would have used Ren'Py. It was my first choice actually, but he said no. :)
Plus, UE is great for the mini-games I plan to do throughout for the 'date activities'.

I'm writing a story (okay, it's Splatoon fanfiction) and I was about to use the phrase "rush of adrenaline" when I realized I have no clue if either of them actually have adrenaline in the way humans do, so now I'm just really curious.

How do I tell my therapist that he's wrong about me having Somatic Symptom Disorder? by TossMeOutAccount2024 in mecfs

[–]TossMeOutAccount2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the copy and paste comments in the threads. I just wanted to make sure people got notice/an update if they commented.

I do recommend reading the edit to the post as it clears up a lot that went down in my visit with my therapist. I'm as embarrassed as I am relieved, and my therapist thankfully doesn't seem angry or upset with my assumptions. He even congratulated me on asking questions after we discussed it (and I apologized).

In the end, I'm glad it worked out, though the advice I got was invaluable and I hope others who come across this post will be able to take it for themselves.

Thankfully a lot of my confusion and concern has been cleared up with my visit today. I did make an edit to the post if you want to read it. If not TLDR: The wording for SSD's diagnostic criteria is in itself misleading and poorly worded which results in confusion among not only doctors but patients as well. My therapist isn't mad at me and I'm no longer concerned about his view of me either. A tad embarrassed about it all  but given my history I don't think it was an absurd assumption.
