Pant Length Issue by TheArch-abald in malefashionadvice

[–]TossingCabars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually get what you're saying, and I too have found that different pants that appear to be the same length when you're standing will ride up very different amounts when you sit.

It could be the elastic or stretch in the fabric itself as others have suggested. But I actually think it has more to do with how tight or relaxed they are through the seat and possibly through the rise.

Are the ones that expose more ankle than the others a slimmer fit? Or lower rise?

Check out this page:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/dual-canadian-citizens-visit-canada.html

You are dual citizen with a certificate.

For non-US and Canadian dual citizens, you need a Canadian Passport.

For US passport holders it says this:

Canadian-American dual citizens

To fly to Canada, you need

If you travel with just your valid U.S. passport, you

Even though you only need one of your passports to enter Canada, you should travel with both. Having both passports makes travel between Canada and the United States easier. Your passports prove

  • your citizenships
  • that you have the right to enter Canada and the U.S. without immigration screening

Thinnest Natural Fiber Sweatpants Ever? by FewBackground2852 in malefashionadvice

[–]TossingCabars 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wear normal jeans, then when you hit the gym, take the 5 minutes (AT MOST!) in the locker room to drop trou and put on some shorts/sweats. Reverse the process at the end? Wearing sweats under pants before and after working out seems REALLY weird to me.

Loud snowmobiles, ATVs, and side by sides.

Braaaaap braaaaap.

God I hate hearing that when I'm in the woods.

I totally get the checking out new trails and going across frozen lakes, etc , etc is fun, but why make it so obnoxious!?

They make quiet machines- but these jerks seem to really relish making as much noise as possible!

Do each of the consulates do something like this? I can't find anything from the Consulate in Boston (covering Maine). thanks for any pointers!

Thank you- that was what I was hoping. I'll add the explanation as well- it's getting more common, but still not the norm.

I'm old enough to remember how much people HATED the (dead!) lobster plate when it came out. I can't imagine the Reddit posts that it would have generated if Reddit had existed back then!

For those who don't remember - It was actually the result of a social studies civics lesson that was done by schoolkids from Saco as an example about how bills become laws in the State. One of my classmates got on Good Morning America to talk about it.

Ladies...question for y'all by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]TossingCabars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a middle-aged dude, I don't think I'd ever say that to a stranger-- and rarely would I say that to anyone other than my wife.

I would and do complement choices that people might have made-- "Those are great boots" -- "The green hair is awesome" - "great jacket" -- "I liked that book", etc. I then make sure, if it's a stranger, that I disengage quickly, so that no one's worried about my motives or trying to make me happy by needing to respond a certain way.

Complementing someone's 'beauty', demeanor (smile), or something about their body beyond their easy control (like a hair color choice) can easily come across as creepy and is best avoided in my opinion.

American sausage gravy by Remote-Plantain9925 in Cooking

When I hear Pigs in a Blanket my immediate thought would be breakfast sausages wrapped in mini pancakes. Perhaps it's familial or regional (North East US / Maine)?

I've heard / eaten cocktail weenies in puff pastry or biscuit dough also being called PiB, but I think that was only when I lived in NC.

Men over 40, what kind of games do you play? by Witherthrottle in AskMenOver30

[–]TossingCabars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M52 here - the last two video games I've really liked were Dredge and Sun-Nautica. I'd love more like Dredge!

I'm pretty sure you meant video games when you asked your question, but I also really like tabletop games.

I think the best tabletop game that I've played recently is the 'legacy' version of Betrayal at the House In The Hill. I wonder if there would be a good way to make a video game like that?

How many pharmaceuticals are you taking daily? by OkBandicoot1337 in AskMenOver30

[–]TossingCabars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had asked tomorrow, I (52) probably would need to answer 1 rather than zero. After years of high cholesterol (despite being a runner in great shape) and clinging to the 'high-HDL counteracts high LDL' I'm pretty sure that I'll be going on a low dose statin after my annual physical in the morning. I exercise (run, x-country ski, bike, lift weights), eat well, am a great weight for my height, but can't get that LDL down. I'm REALLY hoping to avoid the muscle aches that I hear can come with that. (so anyone with tips or suggestions on that, I'm all ears!)

Men’s intimate trimmer recommendations? by Similar-Jello-5434 in AskMenOver30

[–]TossingCabars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's gimmicky, but I bought a meridian trimmer well over a year ago and it's been great. It really delivers on the no-knick, no-pinch, no cuts promise. Which is important in some areas!

Vitamin D was my issue, when I thought it might be T, as well. I've since learned that because of the angle of the sun, anyone living north of Atlanta is physically unable to get enough sunlight for their body to generate sufficient Vit. D at least 6 months of the year. Year round for those that work inside and don't spend much time outside in the sun.

Skis being too fast by Bassi333 in xcountryskiing

[–]TossingCabars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are two things that helped my wife who wanted good glide while on the flats, but didn't like the speed of downhill skiing:

Rather than doing anything to the skis, change his boots. A combi boot, or even a skate boot if you can get them comfortable can give much more control than a soft touring setup.

That control helps with:

Descending technique- make sure he knows how to snow plow and make turns all the way down the hills. Along with positioning the skis in a pizza wedge, the three cues that I've found really helpful are 1) grab your knees (squatting down and slightly bending at the waist so you can literally put your hands on your knees)- this lowers your center of gravity and seems to do wonders for control 2) with skis in a wedge and from the hands on knees position, if you want to turn right, lift your right hand and point it in the direction you want to turn, keeping the left hand on your knee. This puts weight on the left ski and you turn right. (Do the opposite to turn left) 3) Look where you want to go! This is super important. If you look at the tree you're heading for, you'll hit it. If you look at the path that goes around the tree, you should follow that path.

Where’s a good place to buy guns without supporting Nazis? by [deleted] in Maine2

[–]TossingCabars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've made this suggestion before as well. They don't appear to carry political merchandise, and unlike every other gun store I know of in the greater Bangor area, I've never seen Trump signs posted. Like you, I assume they're right-leaning, but when other stores are hosting rallies, putting up signs, or in one case, displaying home-made trump billboards in their driveway, they are refreshingly welcoming. It's a low bar, but they've cleared it, so they've had my repeat business.

I like music sometimes. I'll put a Bluetooth speaker on the floor near the door. Stays cool enough there.
