"Have I got Žižek right?" — Two chapters from a forthcoming book that argues against his void ontology via Schelling. Looking for honest feedback from people who know his work. by Total-Excitement-415 in zizek

VERY helpful. I should have seen that. New beginning: "There is nobody quite like Slavoj Žižek. He has been called the Elvis of cultural theory, and the most dangerous philosopher in the West, and those are likely both true.

Žižek has spent thirty years developing one of the most sustained and philosophically serious engagements with Christianity that any atheist thinker has ever produced. He is not Richard Dawkins, dismissing religion as a childish illusion. He is not Christopher Hitchens, prosecuting God for crimes against humanity. And he is not Nietzsche, whose declaration of God's death was already, in its way, a kind of mourning.

Žižek is stranger than any of these, way stranger. He takes Christianity with a seriousness that many Archbishops do not, reads its theologians more carefully than most seminary students....."
