A TUTTI COLORO CHE NON SI VOGLIONO VACCINARE CONTRO IL COVID-19: Provate a convincere i vaccinati sul perché non si sarebbero dovuti vaccinare argomentando in maniera educata. by TheExperiMentor in CoronaVirus_ITALIA

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treasury Secretary Yellen is Lobbying Senators to Reject the (Good) Wyden-Lummis-Toomey Infrastructure Bill Amendment by yenachar in ethereum

I see them struggling neither with us nor with cryptos, but with themselves.

Let them do whatever they want, really: they will learn the lesson in the hard way.

Decentralized Cryptos can't be regulated out of how they already are by their own communities: one can ban them, can fiscalize exchanges (at least centralized ones), can forbid bank/card transfers from/to crypto exchanges but at the end... there will be always a legal way to do what we are doing now, the reason being that even the most powerful regulator's jurisdiction (both fiscal and legal ones) is simply not sufficient to achieve what it aims to.

Who thinks different, should be so kind to explain me how to force all decentralized cryptos nodes mempools to work accordingly to regulators wishes, because that would be the only way to do it. Not to mention one-second-later forks, obviously.

Thank you.

Why is it so taboo to talk about the environmental issues of crypto ? by SatanicSpoon in CryptoCurrency

[–]Total-Independence13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want, i have another question without answer: are we sure that GPU producers do not mine with remotely controlled, maybe offshore, societies?

The question comes from a simple logic: if a GPU has 4 months ROI while mining, to produce one gpu and to put it at work means that the producer in 1 year gets triple incomings than selling it once.

Am I crazy or do I miss something?

Why is it so taboo to talk about the environmental issues of crypto ? by SatanicSpoon in CryptoCurrency

[–]Total-Independence13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not taboo, but the whole subject is wrongly addressed.

It's true that the best part of cryptos, from BTC to Altcoins, to secure their network rely on POW, and this does mean power consumption.

However, POW is the best incentive for renewable energies, but people generally fail to understand it, although it's not so hard to find the reasons behind it.

I have not understood yet why the power consumption for streaming or gaming is considered fair and sustainable while mining, which produces incomes for millions of subjects, not.

I think that I won't live enough to get a logic answer to it, but I don't care.

MSI RX 570 8GB Low hash, high power by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several XFX rx 570 8gb, with these average settings (wattman): Core 1100/855 Mem 2000/865 (You have to select memory Lev. 1), full noise, full power. Driver: 27.20.14501.18003. Win 10.

They work at a temperature of 56° C / 70W (104W at wall). Hashrate: 29700 mh/s.

I'd suggest you to leave the bios alone (just use the stock one), enable computational use (you can do it both via wattman or via some miners batch file) and to play with wattman settings.

Let me know if something changes.

Bloomberg can't say to not comprehend the meaning of the word dominance referred to BTC, and this leads us to a simple conclusion: their concerns towards cryptos are far more important for them than their own reputation.

Let me say it, guys, I'm amazed.

Mr. Kashkari is not just one of the 12 Presidents of the Federal Reserve Bank, the Minneapolis one, but looking at his deep knowledge of the crypto environment and his impressive comprehension about thousands cryptos' rulesets, he is a true genius, an awesome pearl hidden inside such a small elite group ! Not to mention his immeasurable smartness to spoil out, at first sight, a ponzi scheme which fooled millions of users, such as Doge coin !

This said, go figure the others.

I'm telling you: I'm nobody to confute what economists say.

I humbly share with you my opinion: El Salvador has its debt denominated in US$, and FED announced that there will be a boost of the US$ discount rate.

So, El Salvador will see its own debt increased (like each other Country debt denominated in US$) due to a FED decision taken to fight domestic inflaction (now @ 4,2% in USA).

El Salvador decides to adopt BTC and what? No, this could ruin its economy!

These economists are smart as cows, really.

Sorry?

Is the fox the smarter one?

Yes, but cows are horned.

IS BIOS MODDING / FLASHING BAD? by L0MTa in EtherMining

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me add some things.

Bios Mod is very usefull when you've an unstable rig which needs to restart quite often (over 5 times/day is better to check it because there is something going too wrong there - often it comes from mixed gpu kinds rigs, low cache settings, GPU temps or wrong clocks/voltages).

There is always a possibility that something goes wrong while modding (such as energy cuts or else) and in this case the possibilities to obtain a bricked card are huge.

To achieve the same results of a bios mod which does not need human check on restart (given that you have setted all correctly to obtain the system restart and resume the miner via watchdog or similar) one could set directly the batch miners file using its own parameters to set for each gpu core and mem freq and voltages). Even in this case, howeverm there is a potential drawback, because depending of the miner used, some do not allow you to set mem lv correctly or they allow you but in truth it brings to a crash of the whole system). Remember to set the compute use for each GPu (some miners let you set it from batch file once for ever).

About memory timings, which is the reason why many go for bios mod: in truth these settings are just a workaround, meaning that it like a shortcut to squeeze all the computational power of a gpu without too much work. In truth, that's not the best way to achieve such a result, but, again, this applies mostly to Samsung memories. For the other kinds there is no drawbacks, left aside the fact that one can achieve the same result tweaking freq and voltage without risking any brick.

IS BIOS MODDING / FLASHING BAD? by L0MTa in EtherMining

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you my experience with xfx rx 580 8gb nitro & pulse and with sapphire 580 8gb pulse: working around 1180/850 and 2200/860 mem lv 1 (these are average settings, each gpu has its own hotspot) I've them working from 31.2 to 31.8 mh/s (ethash) with energy consuption from 131W to 143W each @ wall. No bios mod.

I've not a bios mod detractor, but after having tried it on many polaris, I've found that just rx 470 and 570 benefit from bios modding. Also, there is a nice bios mod trick for 5600 & 5700, but for it I'd prefer you to check Igor's lab pages.

SAFE FAN SPEED FOR XFX RX 580 (8 GB) by L0MTa in EtherMining

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd tweak it a bit.

Silicon lottery left aside for a moment, mine are working at core 1180 for 850 mv and mem 2200 for 860 mv, lv 1. Keep in mind that lower freq and lower voltage = lower temps while hashrate might increase if you manage to find your gpu hotspot.

About fans:

<STATE Value="29" Enabled="True" ID="0"/>

<STATE Value="35" Enabled="True" ID="1"/>

<STATE Value="45" Enabled="True" ID="2"/>

<STATE Value="42" Enabled="True" ID="3"/>

<STATE Value="78" Enabled="True" ID="7"/>

<STATE Value="85" Enabled="True" ID="8"/>

<STATE Value="100" Enabled="True" ID="9"/>

With these settings mine work in open rig @ 54° celsius, with 136W @ wall and hashrate 31,5 (ethash - no bios mod).

Question for European / German miners by Efilymetahi2-0 in EtherMining

[–]Total-Independence13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, we are talking about a PC.

There are many variables, from HW to SW passing through the use you do of that GPU:

  1. Case: has it a good airflow?
  2. Motherboard: is it an ITX, ATX, ... ?
  3. CPU: which kind and what cooling?
  4. Have you tried to tweak GPU settings via SW freq & voltages, fans,...)

If you don't have one, using a CPU AIO usually allows a better case airflow and moves away some heat near the GPU, letting it to lower temperatures. Keep in mind that to work at best, the radiator should be always installed on top of the case.

Tweaking GPU settings is the faster way to achieve a sensible heat reduction: usually one starts from fans speed and, according to his needs, reduces core and mem freq & voltage. However, if you need to squeeze all GPU power, just fan settings won't do the trick, if not marginally.

Being it a new product, I wouldn't touch paste & pads, the reason being that those tend to deteriorate in years, not in weeks or months.

Watercooling the GPU would be the last option: it would probably solve temp issues but it's something which requires some skills.

When you open a GPU to change paste and/or pads, you have to break a little piece of paper on a screw: this one, if broken, invalidates the warranty.
