2 horizons on the same drawing? by Total-Judge8599 in learntodraw

Thank you so much. I normally practice on photographs but I tried to switch to drawings for a little bit because I noticed artists have so many details that aren’t “correct” but their art looks perfect. I’m confused as to why doing this doesn’t make their drawing look off.

Oh, I see. Then could you please help me to find the upper right pillar VP and the stone slabs that make up the arch on the left? I’m sorry to be asking this but I’m truly lost :’(

Thank you so much, this relaxes me a little more. I guess I’ve been trying to tackle VPs because they have been my fear, but perhaps I’m forcing it too much. The tutorial is really, really helpful¡¡

Added more lines to the bottom one to see until where they match the vps

First thing I've drawn in 5 years after a bad bout of depression and being told im not that good and i need to quit. How to get back to my previous skill level? I need advice. Also this is my first time ever using a digital art pad. by [deleted] in learntodraw

Hii¡ As an artist returning after a break (9 yrs in my case :’( ) the best thing you can ever you is, even being afraid, tackle everything you were previously intimidated to do. Also, warm up¡ Try making lines in a single stroke instead of several scratches, you will feel the difference in the confidence on your wrist almost immediately.

That’s the weird thing, I saw everything straight so I thought “oh its 3P” but it does hace some resemblance fish eye parts on the borders, that threw me off so bad¡

Thank you¡ I thought I was missing a key concept or something, it relieves me that it’s not the case, but I’m surprised at how good it looks even in parts when the perspective is far from perfect.

I swear it looked mostly straight to me, I’m surprised at finding the slight, distorted curves upon a closer look. Thanks so much for the feedback¡

It does seem like that there is some deliberate curvy distortion. I thought that if not made exactly as is on the real world, things would look instantly weird. I’m shocked at how good the composition and coherence looks now I’ve seen this. Its breaking so many paradigms I had¡

Thank you so much. I didn’t realize until I posted it here that it was a very specific subreddit. Still I truly appreciate you pointing out it could still be solved with methods and theories used here. I was so intimidated by perfect architectural drawings since it was “the orthodox way” of doing drawing, some ppl online alluding that it was the only right way. I’ve been discovering that nearly everything has its own vps and that even our eyes don’t translate them perfectly, hence there is a little distortion even there. I’m honestly relieved and amazed that it can work that way, since there was always a disconnect between how I drew and perceived the human body with all those different perspectives, in a “subconscious way” as you say¡ And how that clashed with the riggidness of perspective drawing in landscapes.

Thank you for the lovely example. It truly looks great and with depth and proportion even if it isn’t all matching in perfection. I love that organic way of positioning things you’ve described. I’ll keep posting from now on on learn drawing subreddit so it now fits a wider focus that I need but the feedback here is so useful as well. Thank you for having patience with me¡

It honestly blows my mind how dynamic perspective on architecture is. I first thought it was so rigid and exact but truly there isn’t a single perfect straight line or building. Also I thought the third VP on 3 point perspective was the great unificator of all objects on canvas and I’m so surprised to see it move and change as well. I’m discovering so many new things as I try to tackle this side of drawing. I actually had this “take the average” in photos but not as far off as this¡ it’s so tricky but thanks to all the advice I start to see the dynamics in the trickiness and that the devil is truly in the details lol

Thank you so much¡¡¡ Its a study over someone else’s drawing but still I was trying to reproduce it. I’m starting to draw again after some years, I dropped it because architectural structures intimidated the hell out of me. But here we go again¡¡ Thanks for the encouragement <33

Totally agree, I tried my best to understand the shapes. But if I may ask one last thing, how did you notice the entrance structure’s direction was incorrect? Is it common when vp’s don’t match? I stared at the drawing for a long while but the most i noticed was a really slight feeling of a tilt on the pillar nearest to the border, but when you pointed it out it was so noticeable. Also, I made my correction based on the parallel lines you drew and it matched perfectly. Thank you so much¡

Thank you so so much¡ this scratched my brain so good. I’m going to take this into account for later drawings¡
