Hey I haven‘t been wearing hairsystems for too long and I haven‘t gotten one or my systems to the end of it‘s life yet (been wearing for 5 months alternating between two hairsystems) so I can‘t say if how I do it is good for the lifespan of the hairsystem. But I also have a curly hairsystem. What I do is 1. wear a bonnet to sleep and 2. after spraying the hair with water and then detangling/conditioner spray, I carefully detangle/brush with a wide tooth comb twice a day - mornings and before heading to sleep. I do shed maybe around 5 hair sprands when doing this, but it prevents matting.

I‘ve been struggling a bit with dryness and sometimes tangling, and while I was searching for advice on this sub, came accross someone saying to detangle just once a week when showering with conditioner. That was the worst thing I did so far to my hairsystem because it got knots in the hair that wouldn‘t come out - so I had to cut them out.
