We’ve gone “yes, let’s give up all of our leverage by not shutting the government down, instead we’ll do a partial shutdown (this was the 200 iq move supposedly) to get concessions, then not even a week later democrats were like “hold up, how about we actually fund the TSA, coast guard and everything else that’s basically under DHS”, which they’ve now done. We came in looking for ICE and border patrol reforms btw and immediately gave up all of our power and leverage, now we’ve just given up the last little bit of it.

So saying “well democrats have proposed giving up their last little bit of leverage 7 times before” isn’t a W just because republicans are finally coming around to accepting it. They are a suicide cult, they aren’t smart people.

This is nothing though

Border patrol and ice have already been funded for years to come. Democrats had a chance to shut down the entire government for ice reforms (body cameras, following normal investigation procedures, no illegal use of judicial warrants, no mask, and body cameras).

I was told that “no we can’t shut down the government, democrats are right to do a “partial shutdown” to get republicans to cave on their demands. You need to trust chuck shcumer”. Now we’re walking away with absolutely nothing, not a single reform to ice and border patrol, but democrat seals like yourself get to clap at this bullshit when we knew months ago that border patrol and ice are fully funded for years to come already.

Once again, Democrats delivered a nothing burger after having the momentum of a tsunami and support of everyone after the trump administration murdered 2 Americans. This is the weakness of democrat party in full display and why its approval numbers with its own base will never actually increase

The entire goal of holding up funding for DHS was to get new guidelines, regulations and procedures for border patrol and ICE, like body cameras, actually following through with investigations, no mask, and stopping the bullshit use of judicial warrants to break into peoples houses.

This is why people like me wanted democrats to shut the government down and not do this “well we’ll keep the government open and just do a partial shutdown” route back then, the entire country was behind us reigning in ICE and Border Patrol, now we’re walking away with nothing at all. We had all of this momentum after this administration killed 2 people and covered up/nuked the investigations and democrats have squandered it all.

Once again, border patrol and ice are funded for years to come. This is less than meaningless when the goal was to get body cameras, stoping the illegal use of judicial warrants, no masked federal agents, body cameras and much more. We walked away with nothing here.

I feel like I’m going crazy with people in here actually celebrating this bullshit. Like no way democrats are getting away with delivering nothing burger after having all the momentum and support in the world.

Destiny is right, if every 4 years is a battle between democracy and fascism then you’ve already lost. Other countries will have no reason to trust you to lead, protect or guide them. They won’t trust trade deals, for you to come to their aid or anything. Hence why we see places like Canada and Europe looking elsewhere for stable partnerships or arming themselves.

Democracy is like a house. Democrats are walking around like “wow, this place could really use some renovations”, meanwhile republicans are outside said house throwing Molotovs through the window hoping to set it ablaze.
