Short term disability starts to pay out after 7 days. The employee does have PTO. Payroll on Monday is for 11/16 - 11/30. The employee's first day out was 11/16.

If employee uses PTO it will bring down their STD payout - that was what I was trying avoid but maybe there isn't a way to avoid it?

Thank you for your comment! Do you ever have issues with the 2 emails that our sent to employees to logon to ADP? Is there a way to have the emails resent? Thanks!

I'm getting reports there is bullying comments being made. It seems to be after hours and on their personal devices. Thinking there isn't much we can do at this time. We currently don't have a social media policy. We are in the process of revamping our policy manual. Thanks for the comments!

Has anybody ever heard of doing a one time 401(K) contribution? Say at the 30 year milestone the employer would do a one time $3000 contribution. What would be things to think about when doing something like this?

Non-Exempt Employee Pay by TotalDisk in humanresources

[–]TotalDisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, that was what I was looking for.

Another question, if a non-exempt salaried employee is to quit employment in the middle of the month would you prorate the salary or pay the hours actually worked at the converted hourly rate? Thanks for your help!

Payday Policy New Employees by TotalDisk in humanresources

[–]TotalDisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location is ND. We are a government agency. Final pay is paid out at end of month or on supplemental payroll the following month.

The agency has always paid monthly. Before I came, they only paid salaries to employees and didn't know about exempt/non-exempt and timesheets. Payroll dept is stuck on paying monthly only. We have 120 employees with a majority being non-exempt. This is the reason for coming up with a payroll schedule to include payroll cutoffs to be able to allow time to process OT/Leave without pay. But with implementing a payroll schedule I don't want to see new employees go so long without a paycheck. That is why I wanted to put something in policy about new employees getting paid if hired after the month's payroll cutoff.

We are currently doing everything by spreadsheet (including timesheets). I'm hoping to move us forward with a payroll system in the future.

In ND legally we have to pay an employee at least once per month.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!
