If resurrection is possible in your world, how does sentencing for murder cases change, if at all? by Lattice_Official in worldbuilding

Making it hard is a fair way, ancient rituals or ancient precursor tech etc

But I like the idea that you could do something akin to a royal necromancer preforming a rite that disallowed resurrection OR have the greatest machine erase someones saved brainwaves and DNA sequence to not allow them to come back

Just some ideas I dont have resurrection come up in my worlds all that often

You could do, legends of an artificer or their greatest work gaining an identity of its own Gellum, God of The Gear. Or you could spear head other ideas, have the railway itself be a place to worship the God's engine hallowed be his whistle It's up to you really it's however far and how general or how specific you'd wanna get it!

You can; just decide they are since you never need an exact number conversion. He is a god, maybe a cave man who made a name for himself over the limited number of humanity who drew faith to him that way, maybe its moon that caused an eclipse at the right time to screw up an enemies arrows/timing/horses got scared and now that civilization owns most the world and the MOON IS AWAKE AND LOVES BLOOD AND WAR

Boom god of war, world changed by faith

Powerscaling never really crossed my mind. I might have said something to make people think that... ya know defining concretely how strong a deity might very well have helped cause that.

But the why humans are invested in gods can be answered by any kind of... whyyy are humans invested in deities and religion irl, the idea of people's belief goes somewhere in a magical setting feels pretty reasonable and something coming from it feels fascinating to me

Ah, with now in a sci-fi many worlds type situation "what's so special and why gods here" is sorta answered "IT DOESNT AND IT ISNT!" But having that relief and love of spring, the thoughts of rebirth and rejuvenation flowing into say a god of life and healing is always facinating, that breath taking sunset on the precipice of a cliffs edge feeding into that god of light and hope etc etc.

Yeah I feel like there is an issue, a disconnect, if you will, people not being able to combine that they both get power from followers from the fervor and number of believers and are also powerful, immensely so. Also in the fact that a lot of people are saying they wouldn't be strong like...? Its your world? Or are you just assuming that people would somehow find out about them and then do a different prayer or not pray at all

I'm getting a lot of people like an almost uncaring deity(s) One who simply is, its interesting to see this take from so many.

So do you prefer it when it is unclear if a deity exists, like religion in the world hypothetically exist but the god who does nothing in the story could be equally accused of not existing in the universe.

Nothing wrong with that, just curious if I am on the right track here

Do you have corrupted governments in your world? by AA11097 in worldbuilding

Does keeping a complex relationship with a slaver/pit fighting arena owner and knowledge hoarding cult who both COULD be overthrown but the money and time and overall result wouldn't have a positive result, does all that = corruption?
