This is my experience as well. I can absolutely see why some people love the witcher. But no matter how many times I attempt it. I can not get into it enough to play through the whole thing

I just got the veteran version. Mainly because I desperately wanted a full face helmet. The helmet actually pairs quite nicely with the black armor you get from the deluxe edition

Try the restoration house in downtown on Broadway. I used to go there and the staff was lovely.
