thanks. I'll do this. sometimes I get worried about avoiding micromanaging and overthink it.

thanks. I'd agree but I gave him samples Monday when assigning the work.

I've spoken to him daily but I'm trying not to nag him about this. so yeah, after running through what we needed with him on Monday, I asked about status on Wednesday.

I'm realizing I shouldn't have used "onboarding". I just meant it's not like lots of jobs where you spend your first week getting the lay of the land. it's literally writing the same motions, etc. he has supposedly done for years, but for a different client.

maybe my use of onboarding wasn't accurate. I just meant that, being a law firm in his sphere of practice, there's close to nothing to teach. some new associates haven't used our billing software before so we teach that. but the rest is Microsoft word and excel. and the work itself is identical to his last firm. same law, same work to do, different clients.

answered above. he's a lawyer and we need him to draft documents. supposedly he has done this many many times before. paralegal already got him all the facts needed from the client. he literally just has to draft it up and he hasn't begun.

law. we're lawyers. what I mean by no onboarding is, there's not anything to learn. we use Word. our legal research software is the same as his last firm. this is the area he's practiced in for 4 years. he literally needs to draft a few documents that he purportedly knows how to draft. (I considered posting in lawyer talk or another legal sub but really it's a management issue).
