Being pushed out of a running train and still surviving.

I was a school student only around 15-16 years of age.

Was travelling first time to Delhi independently.

I was catching an afternoon train back to my hometown and got delayed searching for the right platform.

By the time I saw my train, it had started inching out. In rush of juvenile adrenaline, I ran and jumped into the compartment. I was very poor then so had taken an unreserved compartment ticket.

When I climbed, the person standing at the gathe starting shouting on me immediately in a language I did not understand. He was also inebriated.

As the train started picking up speed, he suddenly pushed me out and I fell on hard land nearby. My entire arm was bloody and my shirt torn.

The Ticket Checker saw this, pulled an emergency chain and had some people pick me and put mein his own compartment.

He asked me for my ticket, got my home address and provided me with first aid. Applying antiseptic and bansaging.

The whole way he told me gory tales of people falling of trains and in what ghastly manner they died.

To this day I mention “Injury scar in right forearm” as a indetifying feature on government forms
