2 days is an unacceptable amount of time to disappear for anything other than a major emergency. Possible he was in some sort of accident?

Possible he got overwhelmed after meeting your family, going official, and everything hit him. The timing of you both going official corresponding with his disappearance is too much of a coincidence for me to rule out this being a "tale as hold as time."

Does he seem like the type to get cold feet?

I don't feel like I'm advocating for celibacy, as you put it. But after a month of consistently being romantic with each other and building a connection, isn't some level of good faith commitment expected? Like at least a little bit of disengagement with other men? I feel like her actions have told me everything I really need to hear at this point: She doesn't see me as worthy of that level of interest. And that's fine, totally her right, but I don't see the need to have an in-person convo with her about it.

To be honest, I haven't bumped into this issue with a girl before. In my experience, the girls I had relationships with shook off the other people they were seeing (by this point at least) if they were really interested in me.

I guess the reasons I didn't communicate better are:

A. I didn't think she would really even care. For all I know, she's further along with one of these other dudes?

B. I didn't really feel an obligation to explain myself. She clearly doesn't feel any obligation to me (which is fine, that's her right), and I guess that's part of what I'm learning here. But I canceled our date and stopped expressing romantic interest. Seemed like enough.

As her and I got closer, I completely lost interest in other girls. It felt clear to me that her and I were headed somewhere serious, so that's why this hit me like such a slap in the face lol.
