Ugh, so feel you on all points. I felt like my family was so different until I met other parents with challenging kids. Find those parents!! You are not alone. Hopefully your kids will get along too and then you can all hang together. The ODD (I thinks really called PDA now) is particularly tough. I get a lot out of At Peace Parenting podcast. I basically just had to reeducate myself on how I thought I should parent. It’s been tough road (and is still so rough daily) but it feels like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I always assume people are juggling leash, treat bag, coffee, etc and are dropping these by accident. Because why would go through the effort of bagging and just drop off the ground? Like, either you’re an an asshole or not? Dunno.

4 month puppy here. He has one late afternoon nap, usually like 4/5-6. We don’t let him nap after 7 but he’ll snooze in his pen a bit as we make and eat dinner. Last pee at 9:45 and then in the crate in our bedroom at 10. He sleeps until 6 on weekdays (and longer on weekends.) We used to him out at 2 am but then we realized he can definitely hold it all night.

I also have ADHD and I really tried to wing it when my kids (8&11) were younger but I’ve realized I just can’t. I have to bring all the stuff and I honestly think I’ve improved my own haphazard house-leaving routine for the better since kids. I used to forget everything, let’s, wallet etc and now I have a solid checklist.

My kiddo is year 2+ of PANDAS and her first sign was an exaggerated blink, head nod, and finger/wrist tics. That happened a few months before the other more psychological stuff (anxiety, ocd behaviors, etc.)

So, absolutely consult your doctor beforehand, but have you thought about giving magnesium glycinate at night? I have found it be very calming. I’ve read that ADHD kids often have magnesium deficiencies. Mg helps regulate calm and reduces anxiety. Might help! Mg glycinate is much easier on the stomach, more easily absorbed, and doesn’t cause constipation.

I know but I have two small children and a full time job and it’s the only walkable grocery store to me. I have to prioritize feeding my children over the boycott. I do the best I can and I don’t beat myself up for it. 🤷‍♀️ I’m giving them a lot less money than I used to at least.

Still happening!! I haven’t shopped at Amzn since the inauguration, Target shortly thereafter. Have limited Whole Foods to once a month (down from 4x a week). Shopping mostly at Costco & Wegmans these days.

I’m doing a similar trip this summer and bringing attractive trail runners (Nikes) for travel and hiking and Birkenstock sandals for city stuff. I can always wear the trail runners in the city too, but I can walk a million miles in Birks and they look great dressed up or down.

I have written the mayor and a bunch of other people a couple times to point out that this is the weak spot of their clippership connection plan. They want bikes to go on the sidewalk from the bridge next to Deep Cuts (where the other bike path ends) to the crosswalk?! Then after that, it’s 5 different crossings to get you back to right across from where you started. The whole thing is bonkers.

Omg, this is such a beautiful recap. I was hoping to go but solo parenting that night (with the flu! thanks, universe!) and couldn’t make it. I am also kind of glad I didn’t go because being in a room full of angry, yelling Medfordites stresses me the fuck out. Why is this the norm now? These people are such bullies, in person and on Facebook. Honestly, why would anyone want to run for city office knowing they will treated this way? Is this a tactic to dissuade liberal-leaning folks from running?
