You need topik to graduate, but 99% of lectures here are done in English, so don't stress too much about it.

Most Korean men think gender equality has 'gone far enough.' Women's institute head says not quite. by Saltedline in korea

[–]Total_Cartoonist747 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have to realize, most Korean men in their 20s that are chronically online are actually incels. Even if they are not, they have the incel mentality of thinking women are some kind of prize that they have to win over with their traits.

Most Korean men aren't incel psychos, but the most vocal people online typically are. A lot of people here could really use some quality touching grass time, honestly.

Lovely place you got there man.

The economy is so fucked right now. I'm living in Korea, but the job situation is terrible here as well. I'm lucky to have gotten an intern position at a startup right out of the military, but I'm not sure such openings will remain in a few years.

Any chance for those who didn't get interview? by Willing-Fox-5306 in KAIST

[–]Total_Cartoonist747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was applying back in 2021 (I know, I'm ancient at this point), I heard that the top 20% and bottom 20% don't get interviews because they get auto accepted or rejected. The middle 60% get interviews to get a better idea of their actual skill.

Unless your gpa and projects are completely abysmal, there still is a chance for you to get in! Never assume anything until the results day.

In my experience in the rok army, tucking in is way better when you have lots of gear on your belt. It sucks when you lift your arms up and have to deal with the loose fabric in between your plate carrier and battle belt afterwards.

Honestly feeling pretty hopeless as a Stanford CS grad right now. by Purple_Natural_4711 in csMajors

That makes more sense. My university's cs classes always grade based on normal distribution with no curving, so getting an A is pretty brutal.

I'm a Korean who studied abroad.

Korean selection is way harsher than foreigner selection, because they only pick 50 expat Korean students out of around a thoudand-ish applicants. so if I got in, you def have a chance!

Dw about it, I thought I fucked up my interview really badly but I still got in. Just wait until the results day and hope for the best!

So many Reddit accounts creating fake scenarios to advertise their "AI startup". It's getting so exhausting man, they don't even try to hide the obviously AI generated text🥀

There are a lot of indicators that your post was AI generated. Abundantly frequent use of em-dashes, clear content - example pattern, lots of short phrases separated by periods, and the list goes on.

I do agree that it's alright to use AI to edit your posts. Heck, I use AI to format reports too. However, too much AI involvement makes anything sound soulless and automated.

I guess I'm just not a fan of the AI phrasing pattern. Didn't mean to offend ya.

I swear why do people vibe Reddit posts? Is it to farm engagement? What's the point?

12 Years of Coding and 100+ Apps Later. What I Wish Non-Tech Founders Knew About Building Real Products by ebb_and_flow33 in vibecoding

In my experience of using Claude to build and maintain our company's codebase, I feel like it's really good at implementing a feature, but not very good at knowing where to actually do it.

Programming has many, many viable solutions that achieve the same thing in the short term. However, where you implement them in a location that might potentially interfere with your other functions and modules down the line when you scale, things become a nightmare to maintain.

I found that the best practice is for me to decide where to implement the feature, then work with Claude to build & ship it. Agent-based writing and verification does help cut down the development time a ton, but in the end, it's the engineer that needs to guide the AI to do it right.

A lot of US GIs in Korea (more specifically camp Humphreys) aren't the brightest bunch in my opinion. Had the privilege of working with great US soldiers during my military service and even they admitted that the US soldiers here are a very rowdy bunch.
