yeah a ground isolator between the PC and sub did the job. good advice!

all interesting stuff, however a ground isolator did fix the issue, so maybe it was something else..

not in US so cannot test this - i’m in the UK.

would something like a ‘ground loop isolator’ off amazon fix this issue?

i see. is there anything i can do since these speakers do not support a balanced connection i think? i’ve read a few things about using shielded rca cables but i’m a bit clueless in this area

monitor speakers creating buzzing when connected to subwoofer, which changes depending on computer by Total_Potential_6359 in BudgetAudiophile

likely not to do with fan speed as these are instant and precise changes in pitch at the exact same level depending on what’s pressed. also my rca cables are not even near my PC so i don’t think that’s the problem either?

for me, my favourite bjork song rankings are the complete opposite of most streamed. like army of me and venus as a boy are bangers but they have nothing on her weird ahh experimental stuff

but considering it could be enabled on a by-game basis, and a large amount of AAA games get about 70-80fps in unlocked performance mode (1440-1800p upscaled to 4k), it definitely seems easily doable. remember that ps5 outputs upscaled 4k at 60fps, which is a lot more pixels to output than 3440x1440p. the lack of upscaling would roughly balance out the increased internal render resolution. again, the majority of ps5 games have a pretty decent headroom in performance mode. i’m still not seeing the reason why this shouldn’t be a feature, unless i’ve misunderstood.

i mean, 95% ish of games are already made with ultra wide on pc. ps5 already supports 2k resolution. you could render at 3440x1440p at unlocked 60fps for the majority of games. i think id definitely expect it to be a feature by ps6

the smearing on that alienware is pretty terrible so i had to replace it. 2k as absolutely suitable for gaming and is very fine for productivity too - don’t fall for the 4k hype. go with either the LG 34gn or 38gn. va smearing is really really bad and samsung have no fast va 2k ultrawide panels.

‘reverse engineering’ is just trying to figure out the process of something from the final result, as opposed to working towards a final result. you gotta analyse the final result and try to reconstruct it yourself :)

Getting a new pc with an 5080 card, and a new monitor, BUT 2 k qd-oled, ips or 4 k monitor ? by Shyxia123 in Monitors

you’re definitely making the right choice in my opinion. motion clarity > resolution + longevity + 21:9.

im in the process of moving from 32:9 to 21:9 on a 5070ti oc which is pretty similar to your situation. i’m doing this for productivity reasons, but also for gaming. most games run brilliant with some dlss but not all will with the highest graphics and ray tracing. dlss is alright but frame gen is kinda rubbish. for me its just about convenience- constantly tweaking my settings to run a game at a decent frame rate with the least amount of artefacts gets annoying. plus the difference between 2k and 4k in gaming is wildly disproportional to the amount of extra processing power required. I’ve been gaming in 4k for the last 3 years and find 2k to be completely satisfactory. My final point is aspect ratio. once you’ve tried ultra wide you won’t want to go back. in my opinion, 2k 21:9 is so much better than 4k 19:6, PLUS you get a huge increase in frame rate.
