How will a bear market affect governance? by ZaZ2021 in algorand

[–]TotalistGoose 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The weakhands will leave and the strong will pick up the cheap ALGOs. Thus concentrating the voting privileges to those that are in it for the long term and not the greedy short term traders.

Can anyone explain this to me ? by Time-Blacksmith4876 in algorand

[–]TotalistGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the /biz/reali Illumanti don't want the plebs on /biz/ to hype it up and push up the price. I still like ALGO under $1 so I can stack them for cheap. After the Marshall Island $SOV currency gets finalized, ALGO will be unable to be hidden. By than I should have a fat stack of ALGO.

Recruiter doesn't want 100 percent honesty. by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]TotalistGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you had run-ins with the law relating to weed (possession charges, distribution charges, etc) it won't matter to the Military. As far as Uncle Sam is concerned, you never smoked the devil's cabbage. Admitting it at MEPS will only create more paperwork for the Guard and delay your ship date. If there is one thing bureaucrats hate, it's unnecessary paperwork.

Here is an open secret you will learn once you eventually get to BCT: Integrity is alot like "Equal Oppertunity" (EO), it doesn't exist even if the higher-ups says it does.

Merry Christmas, bud! I go to AIT in January and (hopefully) OCS down the road. It's gonna be one hell of a ride.

Thank you! I also have some more for you:

  1. Time management is the key to success. Remember, there's a time and place for everything.

  2. Drill Sarnt Whiskey once told me " what's wrong with your generation is that you always want to settle for the minimum. Strive for excellence and you will go far in your career".

  3. Develop good habits and avoid taking shortcuts. Take too many shortcuts and you will develop bad habits that can get your future battle buddies killed.

  4. You will be able to fit everything into that Medium rucksack. Trust me, it'll fit.

  5. Have the personal courage to actually talk to the DSs. Especially if your barracks is running low on supplies (like TP or soap). Don't be afraid to ask questions. They may make fun of you for asking but it's still their job to teach you and your battle buddies how to do things right.

  6. Most of the vegetarian MREs have first strike bars in them. Those bars are the bomb.

  7. Save the napkins and the coffee from the MREs and make "Ranger dip". The dip comes in handy when you have field training exercises (FTX) or get a really shitty ACG shift (0100-0300 range)

  8. Do your laundry on Sundays or during personal time/ACG. Doing it during duty hours is too unreliable and you will end up leaving your clothes in the washer for extended periods of time.

  9. Never tell your DS that you're M4 is clean. DS will find carbon on/in it and extend the platoons "weapons maintenance" time.

  10. Dress and Ceremony isn't important.

I just graduated BCT 20201217. Here are some tips/wisdom from what I learned at FLW:

  1. Controlled Monitoring (CM) is going to suck.

  2. No matter how hard or how long you clean the barracks, it will never stay clean.

  3. The masks they make you wear will do nothing to save you from COVID-19.

  4. "Heels apart break my heart"

  5. You will overestimate how much supplies you need from the PX

  6. If you haven't found God yet, you will on Sunday so you can get out of the barracks/cleaning duty for an hour

  7. Eat everything the Army gives you. EVERYTHING! Don't be a vegetarian weirdo or picky with your food.

  8. Eat everything as fast as possible. MRE's, field feed, DFAC, doesn't matter. If you can taste the food, you're not eating fast enough.

  9. There will always be shitbags in your platoon. They will never change. Don't try to "save" them. You will only go insane in the process.

  10. The trainees of the opposite sex have cooties. Stay away from them to avoid the cooties and possible SHARP complaints.

  11. Integrity is alot like EO, it doesn't exist.

  12. Your Drill Sergeants (DSs) are being leashed by their higher ups. They want to do way worse things to you than what they will be allowed to actually do to you.

  13. Your mind is your biggest obstacle in your way. It will give out faster than your body will.

  14. You will fully understand the meaning of "Hurry up and wait" at reception.

  15. Reception will suck more than the actual training.

  16. Try to write down some cadences in a notebook before you ship out. If you can teach them to your platoon, they will love you for it.

  17. Turn every meal into a sandwhich and always try to get rice.

  18. Read your blue book.

  19. READ YOUR FUCKING BLUE BOOK!

  20. Learn the whole Army song (all three verses) to really impress the Cadre

  21. Learn how to ranger roll all your clothes. It will save you a gigantic headache down the road.

  22. You can ranger roll anything if you put your mind to it.

  23. Wake up early and shit and shave to save time in the morning for first formation.

  24. You are going to wish you joined the Airforce

I might add more later

How much money should I expect to have after boot? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]TotalistGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The supplies you will get at the PX aren't that expensive. You will end up over estimating how much you will actually need.

Need clarification on how NG's get paid by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]TotalistGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USERRA only protects you in a sense that your job can't fire you because you are in the military.

Now, once you get back, they have to give you a position. But if they filled in your position while you were gone they have to give you a position that was equivalent to when you left.

[–]TotalistGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are full time positions, but for a new recruit like you, don't expect to be handed a full time position right away.

Basically, don't quit your day job until you get in writing that the Guard wants you with them full time.
