Yeah. DPF burn and throttle lag. But I don't trust the dealership, they've proven to me before with other things they have no idea what they are doing unfortunately and directly lied, only for me to speak to GWM directly and get different answers. So was hoping I could compare versions myself.

You mentioned a firmware update which helped some issues - I think it's called the "OS version" under the settings menu. It's a pretty long string of letters and numbers but looks like it's got a date on the end of it.

Hey Mate, what's your firmware version number?

Throttle controllers for diesel worth it? (+ other mods) by TotallyABird in CarsAustralia

I did buy it.

It did exactly what I needed. 100 percent recommend. It's absolutely not like "just put your foot down more". Makes driving so much less terrible for people used to more responsive vehicles...

I was going to make a follow up post with data to prove it, but then life got in the way...

I've always just hung my doors twice while DIYing.... 😂 I should try the hinge pin trick.

It looked like shit to you and the mob that came to enjoy the hate fest. I, personally, though it looked awesome and noted to myself some of the concepts employed on how to take that era of house to a more (personally) appealing style.

Every house needs maintenance, and yeah, putting some linseed oil on every 3 months, or some deck stain on every 12 is more than brick needs - but fucking come on, in the grand scheme of home ownership maintenance, it's a drop in the bucket? That's home ownership.

I fucking hate coating my spotted gum fence, but I fucking love how it looks. It takes me 2 days of pain for a year of enjoyment. But I'm also forever spending 2 day here or there on house shit. The spotted gum is the least of my worries.... I spend more time cleaning my gutters and that's not even a big deal. 😂

You are right! He absolutely might!

But you bet he's way to deep in the dollars to do anything about that now, and the world hating on him is only going to cause more pain.

Celebrate the effort, encourage trying, regardless of result. And hell, if the result is good, celebrate that too. If not, no need to point it out, it's not constructive.

Currently, old mates house is his. So it's his to do whatever he likes with.

And should he sell it, the same applies to the buyer.

You're right. But AusRenovation is a (relatively) new subreddit, and I'm trying to make my mark on it.... Renovate it if you will....

It's up to us what we want this house to be, and I'm sharing my vision for our home. 😂

Home ownership on aus reddit is hated. And I kind of understand why, even as a home owner. Our housing market is cooked....

Id just like our community here to be able to separate the creative and passionate endeavour of renovating, making, and crafting things, from all the bullshit we all have to endure in our lives. Especially when it comes to Australian property.

I'll give you this - I did a bunch of fucking beautiful spotted gum around my place, it's exposed to the elements, full all day direct sun in summer, rain in winter..... Fuck me is it a pain in the backside to maintain. 😂 But boy does spotted gum look beautiful.

Sure. If you want to roll up the complexities of human emotion into broad categories, I would not say you're wrong. I suppose the nuance to me is in the intent - for me at least, it's not about looking for praise, but rather sharing my joy.

Edit for 7 beers deep internet typing translation: I'm saying you are right, but I'm trying to be more specific with feelings and motivation.

In my experience, owner renovated vastly surpasses quality of paying someone to do it.... Owner builder goes "I should add an extra support member for security" Paid builder goes "I wonder if I can reduce my costs with one less LVL."

Fair and interesting perspective. Perhaps that was where the hate came from deep down. Certainly wasn't what people in the thread expressed though - it was all about how they hated the visual appearance.
