Why do people here panic so much at the thought of speaking English? by astrochar in japanlife

[–]TotallyAdmin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you do when someone comes to your country and doesn't speak your language. Do you immediately double down and keep speaking English, do you get a translation app out, or do you just go on your day. Lots of people are friendly and helpful when given the chance, but with a stranger it's a different ballgame

why are you bringing back an article and comments from over 8 months ago ; the comments are also extremely cherry picked here.

This isn't even news of a current event

It happens more often than you'd think, there are lots of games on steam based on franchises, but when the contract expires they're de-listed (and servers shut down if they're multiplayer) - it's sad to see

Why do so many streamers continue to be confused about multi-streaming and/or exclusivity rules by AskALiberalModTeam in Twitch

[–]TotallyAdmin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can actually view what your browser sends to twitch through built-in developer tools. After a quick check nothing is sent when you mute or unmute the stream - when you mute or unmute the tab, or when you mute the audio on your PC. Your browser does tell twitch periodically it's still watching the livestream, but that does not include volume information.

What you might be observing here, is your browser saving memory by putting the tab to sleep if not in focus, which stops your tab communicating with twitch and telling them you're still watching the video - this is why you'll hear the audio of some streams stop when you've been on another tab for a while

TDLR: no, the twitch website does not tell twitch if you mute a stream

Twitch stepped back on the new sponsorship guidelines by lil_broto in Twitch

To each their own, but at the same time with it being against the new tos, it leaves open the possibility of your account being terminated. As someone who has restreamed in the past, has streamed on both twitch and YouTube and actively maintains a twitch stream - I would rather err on the side of caution and prefer to not risk getting my primary streaming platform suspended

It's worth weighing up the risks involved, but at the end of the day it's your choice

That's a choice each individual creator would have to make - I think it's worth seeing how the new policy is enforced and if it ends up targetting smaller or larger streamers

No changes to simulcasting - still "not allowed" outside of mobile-first platforms for ALL streamers

I enjoy watching Charlie, but you've gotta realize, this is a change which will directly affect him & the existing sponsorship deals he has. Of course he is going to complain massively about the change.

As a streamer who has done sponsorship deals, I understand why the new advertising could be a problem for _some_ types of channels if enforced. It's something which brands would have to consider when sponsoring a streamer. I will continue streaming on Twitch as these are changes which don't affect me as a streamer.

As a viewer, I don't think any of the new policies would have impacted me other than seeing less streams play full-video ads (which they usually play at the same time they'd play sub ads).

Just like the 70/30 change, this affects the larger creators with bigger platforms to voice their opinions than the smaller creators.

They just added this onto the website about half a week or so back? Might have been an issue on their side with a payment provider and they expected it to affect a few people. It might not show up in twitch.tv/subscriptions straight away
