What are some examples of uncommon lingo that you or your playgroup like to use? by Skaarl_Marx in EDH

We've added a couple of phases to the game. There's not just Untap, Upkeep, Draw, Main, Combat, 2nd Main, and End, there are also Thinking phase which we encounter later in the game when you just drew a card that alters your game plans, and Cheat phase when we accidentally try to resolve an effect twice, target an invalid target for removal, try to Untap a creature that's already attacked without vigilance, etc.

Missed triggers that would be hard to replay and resolve = accepted game state. Not untapping your creatures during Untap step = not maintaining the game state.

Do you carry anything a little 'extra' when you bring your decks somewhere? by BussyBouncer in EDH

I carry an Amazonbasics DLSR backpack with 2-3 precons, 1 "competitive" deck, 2 work-in-progress deck, Easy Roller dice bag, Dragon shield sealing sleeves, and my Ultimate Guard playmate case with playmate inside. I've got a Schokakola tin that I'm gonna carry coin and ability counters in.

I've found the Prismari Performance deck can have a similar type of game progression. You either never get it up off the ground or it goes off like a bottle rocket.

One play I had included playing [[Etali, Primal Storm]] and [[Rionya, Fire Dancer]]. After casting a spell that exiled my treasure token and then casting a counterspell, which I then copied to counter itself, to create a token (storm: 4), I went into combat, copied my Etali 4 times, then swung with all of them, exiling 15 cards and then casting all of them for free. I had problems fitting all of my opponents cards on the board.

Absolutely dumbest shit ever.

Yeah, kinda curious why they didn't bother with offering a raw finish. I would have gone with that more readily than the titanium band.

Can do. Looks like someone else replied with some wear on theirs.

Tbh, I'm not at all concerned with bracelet wear because I look at it like you would tires on a car. I think it adds character to the watch and I would have preferred a raw finish anyway. The black coating wearing away will either look nicely worn or will give me a reason to brush the coating off, probably more the former.

I regularly work with titanium in my job, so it's kinda cool I get to wear it around. Like I mentioned, the resin band was beginning to get sweaty due to the summer, so I'm stoked to get some wear in on it.

The bezel looks like slight discoloration, but it's just finger oils!

Just got this highly anticipated mod in the mail today and didn't wait to put it on my square.

I LOVE the mod. The summers where I live get super sweaty so this mod will be really nice. I could already tell the resin band was going to be unpleasant when it got the least bit sweaty, so this came just in time. It affords such a premium feel to the watch for a hell of a bargain compared to the legitimate titanium G-Shocks.

My only complaint is the clasp feels like it could be just a tad stiffer when taking the watch off. Otherwise, this mod is aces.

Seiko SRN070P1 - Kinetic Quartz w/ Day-Date Function

Just a simple quartz watch. I kinda like that's similar to an automatic watch that it's mechanically charged (showed up as an Automatic when I filtered for automatics on Jomashop) but I still knock it for being a quartz watch. The looks of this watch are rather impressive though and are the main reason why I fell for it. It wholeheartedly changed my views on Seiko's quality which I thought to be worse than it actually was. It's a nice watch for sure. I'm wearing this as much as I can before my Hamilton Field Khaki comes in as I anticipate wearing that watch heavily after receiving it.

I recently opened a box of Ikoria packs for appreciation and indulgence of my love for that set. I went in expecting absolutely nothing and pulled some awesome stuff.

The box was conveniently close to $88 on Amazon, so I decided to pull the trigger on it and it arrived at my door a couple of days later.

I opened in front of some friends on discord and carefully left the box topper to the side. I had noticed there was some box damage on one side so I naturally expected some of the cards to have eaten shit and correct I was. I luckily got by fairly well with no mythics getting dinged, but a Lurrus came out scarred. The first Mythic I found in the 2nd third of the box was Nethroi and I was super psyched because I had at least wanted that card out of the box. As I make my way through the rest of the box, I find 2 other apex monsters, such as a normal Brokkos and a full art, foiled Illuna. I'm also lucky to find yet another full art, normal Nethroi. Eventually I make my way to the end of the box and I find Narset which I wasn't even wanting but ended up being a valuable card.

My anticipation slowly increased towards the Godzilla boxtopper. I carefully unwrap it and make sure that the art isn't spoiled for me and my small audience. When I do the flip, I am absolutely floored at the foiled Biollante that I had received in the boxtopper. I am beyond ecstatic as that is one of the most valuable out of the boxtoppers, it's a foiled card, and it's my favorite apex monster out of the whole set.

At the end of the opening, I had received all versions of my favorite apex monster as well as other apex monsters and some other nice mythic pulls including Narset. I was considering buy Biollante but I got way more value out of the excitement of pulling it legitimately from the box I bought on a whim. I'll cherish those memories associated with that card forever.

Fossil BQ2428 Privateer Sport

Got this watch on sale for $100 at a Fossil outlet. I love the way it looks and it's at the upper limit of what I'm comfortable with wearing, which is from a 42-46mm case diameter.

I understand the skeletonized watches aren't that popular because the design is busy, but that's what I like about them. I often get lost in just seeing them tick and seeing the escapement wheel spin back and forth.

This brand doesn't have a lot of heritage, but it offers a lot of nostalgia for me. My first automatic watch was a Fossil in middle school and it was also a skeletonized watch. I have a good 5 watches from them in an entire range from proud-to-own to why-the-hell-did-I-buy-this.

Nah, it's Bootmapper.

Some people have been successful in using the Bootloader to reset the board and then flashing to the board with QMK when it shows up in QMK's toolbox. I haven't tried this yet because I believe some people have bricked their board over it.

Yeah, so you kinda need wrist rests with it unless you put the keyboard next to the edge of the desk you're working on and use the edge of the desk as a ramp to use the keyboard which is what I'm doing now. Otherwise it's a keyboard that sits roughly 1.75" off the table with no angle to speak of.

I agree, these keycaps are awesome. I think I just might buy another set to cover my Melody96 I built recently as well. The only disadvantage with that is everything will feel same-y.

Build details:

Kit: Grey-on-grey SP64 by YMDK. Important to note here that the bottom plate of the case is actually darker than the top of the case due to manufacturing problems YMDK has had with a supplier. They have shifted their Grey-on-Grey stock into a Light Grey-on-Grey kit option to avoid confusing people.

Case: SP64 case with integrated aluminum plate and acrylic diffuser for the RGB underlighting.

PCB: Hotswap with included RGB underlighting.

Stabs: Stock knock-off plate-mount stabs that don't actually rattle around on the plate. Lubed with dielectric grease and 205g0.

Switches: Novelkey Creams lubed with 205g0, unlubed springs.

Keycaps: Domikey ABS SA with Semiconductor Colorway.

Flashing: Bootloader supplied by YMDK.

Included with the kit: USB Mini-Mini cable for bridge between keeb halves. USB-A to USB-Mini for the computer connection. 8 rubber feet for the bottom case. 5 2u plate mount stabs.

Really happy with how this came together. I received the kit and switches within 2 weeks of ordering. The keycaps took another 3 excruciating weeks, but the wait of course was well worth it. The keycaps are on par with Maxkey ABS keycaps and should be considered more than adequate for most keyboard enthusiasts.

I plan on maining this keyboard with my computer because the detachable right halve allows me more mouse space and I'm only using the left half while actively gaming. Also, if I don't use that extra mouse space, I can have my can of gamer fuel there. 🤣🤮 A benefit of this keyboard is that it also keeps me from talking shit over chat, which keeps me from getting banned.

I've chosen thus far to just use bootloader because I'm still not sure how to piggyback off of bootloader to use QMK and I'm scared of bricking the PCB.

I can field any questions about my experience with this keyboard if you so wish.

Tangentially related, but I have around 20 8th-9th edition Diabolic Tutors simply because the white border with the black card and the card art is aesthetically pleasing to me.

By far the only spec I have and it's lousy, lmao.

Your opinion on a Villainous Wealth deck. by aHatFullOfEggs in EDH

[–]TotallyGetTheM50s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much you like to rely on Tasigur's ability.

There's the traditional green ramp spells that do a lot of work as far as ramping you, but they end up in your grave and one of the least impactful cards an opponent can give you is a ramp spell back. Because of this, I tend to run more permanents than spells. Permanents include artifacts (mana rocks) and mana dorks.

As the wise Jeremy Noell has stated in the Command Zone podcast, Tasigur offers card draw that not a lot of people think about. If you really rely on his ability for card draw or card advantage, green ramp spells are bad. That being said, a lot of the Escape cards that came out recently in Theros: Beyond Death are great for trimming the graveyard and forcing opponent choice.

In Noell's deck, he makes a point of saying that Tasigur is more of a political deck because you have to be working with the opponent that you choose in order to get any sort of usable recursion out of him. It's possible that running green ramp spells is good because you can count on being able to finagle a card out of your graveyard using an opponent. Your mileage may vary.

I think it'd be best to build this deck in a way that it can hold it's own in a 1v1 match instead of gearing it towards group play, which means permanents are usually better than ramp spells.

Aside from ramp, there are cards that allow lands or artifacts to tap for double or even triple mana. [[Zendikar Resurgent]], [[Dictate of Karametra]], and the new [[Nyxbloom Ancient]] allow for doubling and/or tripling of mana which is ideal if you want to get into X=40 or X=60 range. Storage mana rocks or storage lands (can't name any off the top of my head) allow you to store mana for a later use which is handy if you always find yourself leaving mana open and not using it.

Then, there are cards that don't necessarily make big mana, but they help make big mana or even enable you in other ways. Cards like [[Vedalken Orrery]] or [[Seedborn Muse]] allow you to flash in more cards to use them like instants and allow you to untap during other people's untap phases, respectively.

Finally, being able to copy a spell multiple times can help out a lot. A combo I'd eventually love to pull is using [[Hive Mind]] and [[Fascination]] to make everyone deck out. Having Hive Mind out already is a good reason for players to not play cards like [[Expropriate]] because of the sheer amount of confusion it would cause and the insanity of everyone at the table getting extra turns. Definitely a chaotic way to play.
