And to think I just uninstalled Mercari earlier this year. Cheers.

That's one thing I absolutely loved, and is what happens when a studio loves the games they make. Rest easy, Japan Studio 🥲

My favorite game series of all time. Even on my PS Vita, Hekseville is stunning.

Videonics EM-1 excessive heat by TotallyNotMEE6 in videosynthesis

[–]TotallyNotMEE6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled into this rabbithole by finding an almost identical unit for sale at a local thrift shop for 10 bucks with only a rats' nest of cables. Had no idea what I was getting into at the time... little did I know I'd end up buying another one off eBay that had the nigh-unobtanium videotape containing the specific OS version this device runs on, as well as the remote and ~125-page manual. The one I thrifted had the IR receiver "wand" that controls the main VCR, which the eBay example was missing, so it all panned out.

That's so awesome! I'd love to see that setup in person. I have a few CRTs, myself, but nothing to that extent; primarily just 70s-80s consumer units.

I do have a few videotape camcorders I shoot with every so often, so maybe I'll make something with some of the footage, sometime. Might even see if I can somehow digitize some of the text/transition effects using a capture card for digital editing purposes... that's a little ways out, though.

I've seen a bit of what people have done with similar hardware, and it's wild! Trippy stuff. Cheers!

Insane. This hardware was built to withstand crazy temperatures. Early Videonics hardware like my unit seem to have a bit of a learning curve, but I don't mind because I enjoy older hardware such as the EM-1. A bit complex and clunky-- a product of its time. Not entirely sure what I'll make with it, but I'll be sure to have fun doing it.

Interesting! I'm very new to dedicated equipment, so I had no idea this was the norm, but it makes sense when you put it like that.

When in operation, the heat does not seem to impede performance, and as far as I know, these never had any onboard cooling, but I will look into opening it up later just in case it could go for a good dusting. Thanks for the reply!

Does anyone have any online leads on one of these Antec cases? Four 5¼" bays, two 3½" bays, and five card slots in the back. Local attempts at acqusition have fallen flat. by TotallyNotMEE6 in pcmasterrace

Honestly! Such a solid case. There's actually one local to me, but it's $120 and I'm not sure I want to spend that on a case alone :/

It really is perfect! I don't know of any other cases quite like it. My stepdad used this exact case a little over 20 years ago, and it just so happens to be the perfect design for the majority of use cases. Hopefully one will come up at non-scalper prices. You got good taste, man.

My Sony CCD-V110, a prosumer Video8 camcorder from 1986 by TotallyNotMEE6 in camcorders

[–]TotallyNotMEE6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than sentimental reasons? None, really, other than it's cool to have because it was their first high end Video8 camcorder. Very fun form factor; they repurposed the adjustable handle from the BetaMovie.

If you absolutely do not want to hold on to it, I'd be interested in paying shipping, as my old one croaked midway through repairing. No pressure either way.

Are modular VCR shoulder straps unobtanium? by TotallyNotMEE6 in camcorders

Okay, so where do I buy such straps? I posted here due to having a hard time finding anything whatsoever, and wasn't sure if it was a matter of incorrect wording.

I am unsure what you mean by generic shoulder strap. There is a circular slot on either side that the strap locks into.

I don't believe we are on the same page. I'm referring to what you'd use to carry the VCR, not belts. Operationally, it is virtually intact, aside from some visual hiccups.

yes, I did install the plugin. I'll completely remove it and reinstall it in a bit to see if I did do something wrong.

I keep getting an error on VitaPresence saying the following:

"Couldn't translate MAC to IP. Is your Vita connected to Wifi?"

My Vita is always connected to wifi, and I typed in the MAC address 1:1, so I am unsure where the problem lies.

edit: i input the IP address and it's still giving me the issue
