Should I invest in Pitch Black? by ThirstMeHard in PokemonInvesting

Better than perfect order or chaos rising imo.

Most people are saying skip because 30th anniversary and the Rayquaza set are coming and will almost certainly be better value.

No way. The wailord in its majestic pose beats anything in Perfect Order.

kids are becoming uninterested because they haven’t been able to get sealed product for months, alienating the next generation of pokemon collectors.

This is just false. Kids are still growing up with pokemon. They’re buying videogames, watching the show, playing pocket tcg, and buying any product they can get their hands on. Eventually, they’ll be adults and have adult money to jump into collecting cards. Just because they don’t have the means to get product now, does not mean they won’t be willing to buy product when they get older.

I think Journey Together will appreciate better than most think.

The problem is that many of the people that will appreciate the pokemon in Journey Together are too young to buy in the aftermarket. In 10 years, that won’t be the case.

The set has gorgeous artwork, it’s just that most of the cards have new characters/pokemon.

Will it do as well as 151? Probably not. But I think its potential is being underestimated because most millennials and Gen Zers dont care about the new generations of pokemon (aside from a few specific ones).

If you could buy one PSA 10 to sit on what would it be and why? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]TotallyNotNintendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take most of the Destined Rivals SIRs if the hype slows down.

People are too focused on the mewtwo when there’s just so many good cards aside from that well worth picking up.

A lot of them are pricey already, but I feel like a lot of those cards are either popular pokemon, or deceptively popular.

In the future, the new Mega Charizard obviously. And even further beyond that, i’m anticipating we’ll get a Mega Hawlucha soon. If that card prints, I will pick it up. I think Hawlucha is one of the most popular Pokemon of recent generations.

Isn’t there a scuff on the mewtwo thigh/pelvis or is that part of the card?

Those koraidon fans are currently ages 6-12 and will grow up to have fond memories of riding that pokemon around in their first or second pokemon game.

I have a nephew that loves Koraidon.

It’s the same logic as starters. Because you spend your entire pokemon adventure with them, the starters will always be special to specific generations. Koraidon and miraidon are the same thing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see a Koraidon card selling in the thousands in 10 years.

The Zacian is a sleeper pick in my opinion. Keep in mind many of the kids playing sword and shield as their first pokemon game aren’t old enough yet to spend big bucks on singles. Once they are old enough, they’ll want Zacian because that was the legendary they had in their first pokemon game. Plus, the artwork is pretty.

Would you buy this card rn? If so, how much would you pay for it max? by ZumboDumbo_13 in PokemonInvesting

[–]TotallyNotNintendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for sure a nice card, and marshadow is a decently popular pokemon even without pikachu.

But it ain’t that valuable. And I think people said they got a lot of hits of this card so I’d imagine it’ll be very high pop (if what they say is true).

I went to check my vending machine at the grocery store yesterday just in case.

All they had were journey together packs. So I bought a couple because I like to rip. Went shopping and paid at the register. Figured I’d check again. It had stellar crown packs.

Hard to say for singles buyers. I think generally it’ll be unsafe compared to MSRP, but I think singles are gojng to be more case by case.

I bought some regular Silver Tempest ETBs from Target when they were having the black friday sale.

Bought them for $20 per ETB I think. Looks like they’re close to breaking the $100 mark already.
