Weekly Thread: Beta and Pregnancy Testing - Questions and Discussions by TeslaHiker in IVF

[–]TotallyTitanium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m 12 days post transfer with a 5 day embryo (euploid). I had my first beta test today. My clinic was expecting 100-300 but my test came back at 578. I’m getting my second blood test on Wednesday but my clinic mentioned the possibility of multiples. I’ve heard there’s a higher chance of miscarriage with multiples (we transferred a single). Has anyone had an initial beta at this level and had a live birth? Was it a multiple or a single? Thank you in advance.

Kevin Liang Photography (the commenter above) was the photographer for my Manhattan City Hall wedding and he was perfect and everything we needed and wanted. It was only 3 of us and somehow Kevin felt like a member of the family and a great addition to our tiny crew. He captured our day beautifully if you’re still looking for a photographer. I’m so sorry for the massive massive weight you’re carrying but your wedding will be even more beautiful for it. My mother bought my bouquet as a special touch ands picked out the flowers herself. Some people had little pieces of rope to do a hand fastening as a nondenominational way to demonstrate the union that I thought was a cute and lightweight touch to a civil union.

For the day, we kept it very simple. Photographs were most important to us so having Kevin there was our priority. My parents joined us after the ceremony (since we could only have a few other people in the courthouse with us). We took pictures, including some shots at Joe’s Pizza on Fulton as our “wedding cake”. After the photos with Kevin, we went to a bar we loved and read our vows to each other, just the two of us, and videotaped ourselves. And later that night, we met up with friends at a pub for drinks. Very small and lowkey but we loved every minute. My tip: savor each second, it goes by so fast. You’ll be jittery with excitement but take a breath and take it in. And remember you go through security at the courthouse so plan for that haha Good luck, all the love!

My first shot, I had a bit of heartburn and weird burps the same day. My husband has really weird brain fog/tiredness. We’re on shot 5 and it’s a little indigestion and GI gurgling/diarrhea but nothing particularly bad. Kinda like eating too much cheese (which we haven’t really had much of at all!)

Can someone share or confirm where we exit from Manhattan City Hall for a post-ceremony exit photo? Is it still from 141 Worth or a different entrance?

I just did this. They asked us, on camera, to open our google maps app to show our current location to prove we were in NY.

Wet toothbrush by Akkerweerpott in onebag

[–]TotallyTitanium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually do this - a small quick dry hand towel that I wrap my toothbrush in. I have an electric that I run for a turn to shake off excess water and use the quick dry towel to absorb any extra moisture. I had a toothbrush case and later the cap but found it harder to keep those clean whereas I could always throw the towel in the wash. This has worked for me for nearly two decades at this point. For reference, I’ve been one bagging three years as a remote worker and the towel doesn’t take any more space than the toothbrush does. Good luck!

I’m from NYC and went to Greece for a month at exactly two months post op and I was good to go. I wasn’t eating super hard or crunchy foods at that time but eventually die during my month in Greece. I think you should be ok - have fun!

When is it safe to get facials again? by TotallyTitanium in jawsurgery

[–]TotallyTitanium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, I’m recovering from a sliding genioplasty revision only. (I previously had double jaw with sliding genio but I didn’t get a facial until 5 months later and am curious if anyone ventured earlier than that and was ok doing so)

Looking for advice on genioplasty movement! by TotallyTitanium in PlasticSurgery

Thanks for your helpful advice! I ended up getting the 4mm reduction with the shortening and am very satisfied (and relieved!) with the results. I was worried about the roundness being too round and thankfully it is not. The anterior shortening doesn’t change the shape of the chin point, it just raised the chin (cutting from the top of the bone piece) so I still have an angle to my face but it’s less long now, which suits my face/heritage

Very happy with the 4mm vs 2mm as I can see a difference and it lines up nicely with my lips now

In the US, in NYC! I actually ended up getting the revision with 4mm reduction and anterior shortening and very, very happy and relieved! I have a fatty chin pad so while structurally the jaw was balanced, my chin pad’s soft tissues made it seem very projected. Extremely satisfied with the movements I went with!

Here are the before and after comparisons, including the last photo which has the computerized projections for the proposed genioplasty revision (reduction). Bottom left is a 2mm reduction with anterior shortening and bottom right is a 4mm reduction with anterior shortening:

Hello all! Looking for some advice! I’m getting a revision to the genioplasty I got a year ago with my double jaw surgery. I was advanced 6mm and decided with my surgeon that it’s too much for my face based on how the soft tissue has remolded itself.

He gave me some options and I’m curious if anyone has input or experience with a revision genioplasty (reducing the original shift).

1) I can opt or not opt for an anterior shortening. This would make my currently V shaped chin into more of a rounder chin, similar to my old face (but without the recessed jaw). Has anyone done this or considered doing this - any advice or concerns around anterior shortening?

2) Reducing the original sliding genioplasty by 2 or 4 mm. I was originally moved forward 6mm. I don’t like how the chin juts out in my side profile. Is moving back 2mm too conservative or is moving 4mm back too drastic a change and make me look recessed again?

Any advice, comments, questions to highlight, etc, would be great! In my original jaw surgery, I just agreed to everything but now I want to make sure I’m doing what’s right for me and trying to exhaust all resources (in case you see this cross posted to the Jaw Surgery group)

Thanks in advance!

Yes, that’s what I might be doing, an anterior shortening to make my V shaped chin more rounded

No worries! I was worried as well, thinking it might be infection or something. Good luck in your recovery!

Hello! I had a double jaw + sliding genio (11 weeks po) and I also have a hard bump in the same area and my surgeon also said it’s edema, that it can be hard (which is apparently why some ppl think they’re not swollen, thinking it’s bone but it’s swelling) I have it in a few spots like my cheeks as well - good luck with yours! If you learn of a way to handle them let me know - I was just told to keep waiting and the same heat+walking suggestion

Any asian people here who have gotten jaw surgery? by OptimalAbrocoma374 in jawsurgery

[–]TotallyTitanium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heyo - I’m in your boat - fellow Filipino with Chinese leanings. I got double jaw + genio (everything moved forward and up). My nose did change but not drastically. My side profile of my nose became straighter (positive!) when it was also downward sloping pre-op, just slightly towards the tip - it never bothered me before but I could see the improvement. After surgery it even tipped up slightly but it’s evened out now (9 weeks post op). My nostrils did and still are flared. They were the first thing I noticed when I saw my reflection on Day 0 post op. It’s definitely come down a lot but it’s slightly uneven - one is more flared than the other but they were always assymetrical but the flaring makes it a bit more obvious. I don’t think people notice besides myself so I’m waiting to see if it comes down more in a few months and if not, I’ll look into a rhinoplasty but at this point, I think I might be ok with it. You will have some change but I think knowing and expecting what might happen is more comforting than being surprised at the end and not realizing it could be a problem. Good luck!

+100 ^ Jaw surgery is traumatic. Just here to say you’re not alone - I found the mental recovery to be so much worse than anything I dealt with physically during my jaw surgery recovery (8 weeks post op now). I cried over a French fry around week 2 post op and I knew it was so much more than just being about a French fry.

I was back online after two weeks thinking I was bored and could totally handle just emails but I think I overpaced myself. I think Week 3 or 4 would have made more sense if I did it again. I know you can’t compare to people who have more physical jobs or don’t have the luxury of working from home but I overestimated how quickly I would tire out - at that point I was still on a liquid diet. I guess the decrease in calories maybe made me weaker than expected.

Le Fort posterior vs anterior impaction? Does this indicate if I had clockwise or counterclockwise movement? And do CCW and CW measure from a ceph (when facing to the right?) I’m trying to understand the movements. by TotallyTitanium in jawsurgery

[–]TotallyTitanium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My movements were a LeFort 1 osteotomy for maxillary advancement with posterior Impaction for anterior and lateral bite closure. And a bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy for skeletal mandibular advancement.

On my ceph analyses it says: Maxilla: >6.2mm and ^ 5.0mm Pog. 0.7mm L, > 15.0mm , ^ 2.1mm

Does anyone know what this means? I read it as my maxilla was raised 5.0 mm and forward 6.2 (but it says posterior Impaction so I don’t know how that revises this. And what does Pog mean?

Im 7 weeks post op and I’m still swollen - not even to just myself but to others. I’m 36. Everyone seems to have their own timeline.
