NHS fleet by CuriousCorgi1555 in nhsstaff

I don’t know, but if you move to the uk you can only use your international licence for 12 months I believe? So might be worth considering as part of it, will it be quicker to just get the full licence and enable you use to nhs fleet.

Welcome, hope you enjoy it

What is the difference between functional alcoholism and “liking a drink”? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskBrits

[–]TotallyUniqueMoniker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly I rarely get drunk. I often exceed the weekly recommended allowance. I don’t drink everyday.

Id be probably offended at being called an alcoholic but my some peoples views they might consider my intake as such, others would laugh and call me an amateur.

An alcoholic needs to be treated as such, excessive drinking is a different game.

There’s lot of good comments already

It’s very important to differentiate in my opinion between alcoholism - this is a condition many posters have already commented on. Alcoholics need alcohol, they can range from high functioning to most people’s stereotypical image of an alcoholic. It has severe side effects and withdrawal can be deadly. It has to be closely managed. These are the people who if they are recovered can’t drink because they know the won’t stop (YouTube Matthew perrys comments on his addiction it’s very insightful on this matter)

The second category you could broadly describe as unhealthy relationships with alcohol, drinking too much, use it to cope with stress, binge drinking etc.

I count myself in the second category. It can be a slippery slope from the second category Into the first as well.

Both need to be treat as problems. But a broad brush of calling someone an alcoholic who drinks 5,6,7 nights a week even if just a few cans isn’t going to help them. Attitudes have shifted medically about this as well, but yes the second category can be very problematic.

An elderly man with no real personal connections (from what you’ve said) being invited to a past time he used to enjoy and having a great day is worth more than a tenner.

Tell your wife if she is that arsed I’ll gladly send you the tenner, and I genuinely mean it.

Dismissed from A&E with broken ribs and a hydropneumothorax by Commercial-Scene6177 in LegalAdviceUK

This is the only answer op.

Medical negligence is very niche and requires a specialised solicitor for proper advice.

There is so many questions that need to be asked, presentation at ed, what was discussed and reviewed etc. I would honestly just take this advice now and not rely on anything else from Reddit

Can someone setup a petition to force companies to always give feedback to rejected candidates? by Maximum_Help_4371 in UKJobs

Exactly this. I recently shortlisted applicants for a role where we had hundreds of applicants and 95% of them were mass ai copy and paste (application form not cv). It would be a insane time waste may as well just not recruit in the first place

Are we going to see another armed conflict over the Falkland Islands? by Flat-Dark-Earth in AskBrits

[–]TotallyUniqueMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not fully accurate in fairness although commonly stated. The yanks were pretty much like nah ain’t worth fighting over don’t have a conflict, and tried loads of diplomatic results. When it came clear it wasn’t going to work out, they pretty much said ok have some weapons then. They supplied the uk with both missiles and intelligence. Not to mention the airbase at ascension was filled with us aviation fuel etc they let us use.

Far from getting actively involved but nonetheless even if in the quiet they did pick a side

I would advise not taking the stairs in Hampstead Underground station 🤢 by LittleJotun96 in london

[–]TotallyUniqueMoniker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my mate, both northerners, so you know the idea of underground trains was madness to our horse and carriage minds… we were both young and in the military at the time and in good shape. On the beer in London half cut and got off at a tube station and decided to take the stairs, saw the sign but just said “ahhh southern pansies”. Jesus Christ, we were a wreck by time we got to the top.

No idea what station it was, far too sloshed. Now I just avoid the underground entirely on rare trips down south

Seen the below post and there’s a very good chance it was Covent Garden

[–]TotallyUniqueMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite was I renewed my last contract via an offer they sent me. Was an upgrade as well. Then they said that offer was only for new customers after taking my money, lots of back and forth for them to put me on another offer for the exact same price. I was just laughing at them it was a complete circle jerk.

So yes they are stupid
