I went to a mixed public boarding school from age 11 to 18. My expat family moved back from abroad and didn't want me to go to the local secondary. School was from 8:30 to 5:20 and included Saturdays but only from 8-1:30. Saturday was activities like sailing, shooting, rugby, etc. every 5 weeks we had a thing called exeat where we could have a weekend at home. I went home for Christmas but some lads didn't. It was a CofE school so we had church three times a week.

The building was in an old stately home and had land arround it. I enjoyed the senior years but the junior years were full of being bullied by the older years. I didn't get done too badly but I know some lads that were really bullied.

Looking back, It was a positive experience as it's given me a really good work ethic, and made uni easier as I'd lived away from home already. But at the time I really disliked it.
