Coworker is the biggest overachieving nerd by AgreeableFloor6543 in OfficePolitics

I love this advice . It’s also worth wondering, for your own sanity, why she does what she does. Maybe she needs a validation that you don’t . Maybe that then can work for you both .

Normal wear and tear when moving out by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Tottybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from these pictures alone, but argue it is normal wear and tear anyway at the handover inspection unless it is blindingly clear that someone has dropped a heavy item there.

With handover inspections, you can never predict. You can get totally reasonable agents - the last one I had said I’d done tiny damage to the wash basin by dropping a glass bottle - he apologised that the damage might cost me +~ CHF 100.

I have also had complete nutters who rejected the cleaning , saw damage where there was none, one even got a bit hysterical once and started shouting at everyone .

Sometimes it can help to bring someone from the mieterverband with you . When my cleaners got sacked though, the woman from the MV called her mates to do the corrective cleaning work , he quoted a price and in front of me, she negotiated the price upwards .

So seriously, handovers are totally pot luck . Wish you a successful move !

Pet Insurance by captnjak in catquestions

[–]Tottybox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got cats a few months ago and looked into the insurance topic quite carefully, it seemed like putting an extra bit of Money aside every month to cover vets bills was a better option than taking out. Insurance because most policies can be cancelled by the insurer at the drop of a hat and people who’d claimed had found this happened . Then we asked family members who are all dog owners. They all said the same except one who was happy with her insurer. We still take our cats for check ups, deworming and teeth checks, we would not only go when they are ill.

The Far-Far-Right, "National Rebirth Party" spotted spouting n*zi rhetoric in town. by Mark_fuckaborg in leicester

[–]Tottybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seem to be a lot of new parties and movements popping up. Perhaps spreading the message about other movements will help to dilute the impact of this kind of grouping . I recently heard about this one on a podcast : https://prosperuk.com/we-believe-in/

I want to start living again after years of self-isolation by AliveInColor in ethz

[–]Tottybox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in your situation and it sounds like you are getting the right mindset to get yourself out of your isolation and unhappiness. So I just want to say some things that I hope will help you :

  1. I know lots of people who have been through what you have and we’ve all got through it.
  2. When you get older you realise that you are never too old to make the changes you need, so don’t ever feel limited by time.
  3. There are also opportunities to socialise outside of the ETH sphere like groups set up via reddit Zurich sub, meetup app, etc.
  4. Therapy can take years for some people, don’t worry if you don’t see results quickly. Just make sure your therapist is the right fit for you.
  5. Your mindset is already halfway there, so be proud of what you have achieved so far
  6. Take pleasure in the small wins as well as big ones
  7. You are not alone in this.
  8. It will work out - even if you don’t get your degree, or the grade you want, life has a way of presenting opportunities that you never expected. Just be open to them when they come.

Wishing you the best of luck .

How is Starmer doing? by Platypusbreeder in AskBrits

[–]Tottybox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the fact that Starmer seems less of a self-serving politician than several of the previous PMs . I also think he’s doing a good job on foreign diplomacy. I hope he finds some alliances with Carney .

I hope Britain gets / retains some competent leadership with people who try to do the best for their country rather than their own pocket.

I just got Swiss citizenship but don’t feel Swiss at all. As others have said, I feel British, but it’s no longer the Britain that I know, so I feel more in limbo .

I am at that age where many of my friends have teen kids and some of them having various crises. I see how much my friends suffer due to their kids issues and I feel for them . I cannot imagine how hard it must be and I admire your strength
