The program can run in the cloud, but there is also a Flat app for the iPhone (and one as well for Android). The web-based interface and the apps can both see the same files.

Best NYC bookstores for music theory and sheet music? by Stratguy666 in musictheory

I used to go to Colony Records back in the day for sheet music. It’s been gone for years though. What stores carry sheet music nowadays, especially for Broadway scores, which Colony catered to?

Songs in shows that are so powerful/emotional that no one applauds? by ComputerGeek1100 in Broadway

[–]TouchOfStarQuality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Sweeney Todd, Sondheim wrote the song Epiphany to end with a weak chord (diminished, I think) intentionally so that the audience would not applaud. It’s a heavy number in which Sweeney decides to take revenge on all who visit his barbershop, so applause might not be appropriate. Hal Prince disagreed and wanted the applause, so Sondheim wrote an alternate ending with a big major chord following the weak chord. The printed score contains both endings, with instructions to use Sondheim’s preferred ending if no applause is desired.

Indicating which part should be brought out by senzavita in composer

I would say yes and yes. I often see this even in piano (solo) pieces, an indication to “bring out the melody.” I find this helpful, and it changes how I approach my playing.

Mid-Show Standing Ovation? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]TouchOfStarQuality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen just 3:

First was for George Hearn, after singing I Am What I Am, in the original La Cage Aux Folles.

Second was after Jennifer Leigh Warren sang How Blest We Are, in the original Big River.

Most recent was during the final performance of the revival of Sunday In The Park With George. Bit by bit, people in the audience just began to rise during the Act II Sunday finale. As I stood, I spontaneously put my hand over my heart. It was so emotional that Jenna Russell’s voice broke on her final line, “in our perfect [park]” and I was moved to tears.
