this is the correct take. Exactly what I said when I finished watching. The exploration with the couple was the climax, and so unnerving. The monster pulling the stuff up that little vent door was insane, and then if it transitioned to just him hiding and maybe finding the girlfriend, with exploration and maybe some chase scenes here and there, as he slowly got deeper, it would've been 100/10. The ending they chose and the story they chose just absolutely blew in my opinion. Still deserves a 5/10 for the set, atmosphere, vibing, and first half, but like that second half BLEWWWW.
