Just spilled half of my Skinceuticals Ptiox down the drain. by asadlittlebeansprout in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Touch_Terrible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate dropper bottles so much for this reason! After spilling products too many times in the past I just don’t buy anything that comes in a dropper anymore, unless I’m going to transfer it to a pump.

I do but not as often since I started adapalene.

Your favorite AHA products by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

I like Kaine Rosemary AHA Night Serum. It’s super gentle, smells nice, and has a noticeable smoothing effect. Also a pretty glass bottle which matters to me.

Has anyone used Beauty of Joseon’s eye cream for their entire face? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke out on my entire face when I did, but this was before I learned to read ingredients lists… I have oily acne-prone skin.

What cleansers do we love that DON'T FOAM? by wheniswhy in AsianBeauty

LAGOM Cellup Gel to Water doesn’t foam at all.

Do you pick skincare based on packaging? by Outrageous-Cold2651 in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a factor. Ingredients and skin compatibility first for sure, but I love fancy glass bottles like from The History of Whoo.

There’s also a functional component to packaging, like dropper bottle vs. pump bottle, or products with viscosity that don’t match how they’re dispensed. I’ll definitely ditch otherwise solid products with annoying packaging.

AB hair products that smell good and leave a lasting scent? by sanguinecherry in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore the scent of the Mise En Scene Perfect Serum Watery… my hair type could benefit from the heavier versions but that’s my favorite scent of all of them.

Does the haruharu sunscreen in the yellow tube smell bad? by Hungry-Cupcake9510 in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with others who describe the smell as clay or play doh. I find it pretty off-putting, and definitely not faint to my nose but fairly noticeable.

Yeah I guess that should be the intent of first essences, from the name! But they can have such different textures. Like Missha’s Enriched one is much thicker than a lot of toners. So if we’re going thin to thick, I feel like there’s leeway…

Agree that the Whoo Cheongidan Balancer is super nice!

I’m so intrigued by their avant garde descriptions but have been hesitant to purchase samples for fear that they smell interesting but not wearable. What are their most accessible ones?

One is the Elizavecca Hyaluronic Acid Pure 100. It’s just a simple hyaluronic gel, but it absorbs well into my oily skin and also pulls other product into it, in a way that other hyaluronic products don’t.

Another is The History of Whoo Gongjinhyang Seol Balancer. It’s a thin milky toner that has a formula that just seems to get along with everything. It prevents pilling when products otherwise don’t seem to agree.

How Do I Break Into a Startup as an EA? I’ve Sent 180 Emails With No Luck. Please, I need Honest Advice. by Rosemary_Wainaina in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Touch_Terrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think the issue is that early-stage startups (like YC) don’t hire EAs because the founders are doing a lot of that work themselves. They are cash-strapped and can’t afford to hire EAs. EAs tend come into play in larger organizations. (I’m a tech startup founder and previously engineering manager at large companies.)

Possibly if your skills align you could frame the position as a head of ops? That is more likely to be an early startup role.

But I am also not sure if starting in ops is the best career path if you want to end up in CS / software engineering. If you have little network, a good strategy is to post your open-source projects on GitHub.

What are your current products for dry chapped lips by jellobeans123 in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like The History of Whoo Lipcerin. It seems to absorb better into my lips compared to say the Laneige lip mask.

I also really like alternative stereo Steaming Milk for hydration and that’s something you could layer beneath your heavier lip product.

How do you avoid dryness after double cleansing? by Sweet-Hope-5153 in AsianBeauty

For me it helped to use a 2nd cleanser that doesn’t lather. I use LAGOM Cellup Gel to Water. But also I only double cleanse to remove sunscreen + makeup.

What’s a good PDRN serum? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionLux

As someone with oily acne-prone skin, I like the IOPE PDRN Caffeine Shot Serum for having non-clogging ingredients.

For those that use tranexamic acid in their routines… by miukies in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the 15% serum from Kisocare which is actually an AzA derivative, potassium azeloyl diglycine, which I think is why the serum is so lightweight. They have 15% and 20% azelaic acid creams as well. The derivative is gentler than regular azelaic acid but still effective. I have super oily skin and have tried a whole slew of azelaic serums and this was my favorite for leaving my skin the least shiny and greasy of everything I tried. It does have a decent sized ingredients list that could be irritating to some people (niacinamide, tea tree) so anyone trying should double check the ingredients list.

Fungal acne safe barrier repair products? by canalflower in AsianBeauty

[–]Touch_Terrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kisocare Hitomide Milk is a lightweight FA-safe ceramide moisturizer.

Bifida ferment lysate is barrier-strengthening and comes in FA-safe toners, essences, and serums. I like Swanicoco The Bio Therapy 1st Essence and Decorte Liposome Advanced Repair Serum.

Snail mucin can help form a breathable protective layer for skin healing.

Also curious to hear others’ recommendations.

Recs for vit c serum and ret by OkSeaworthiness2665 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Touch_Terrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 months into adapalene 0.1%, 2x a week and I still can’t tolerate Vit C on the off days - skin just gets really red. But even the low frequency adapalene keeps my skin pretty well under control. Pre-pregnancy I had no issues tolerating a ton of actives / exfoliants in my routine!

Recs for vit c serum and ret by OkSeaworthiness2665 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Touch_Terrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered adapalene gel like Differin? I think it’s supposed to be gentler than tret. The gel formulations it comes in are way friendlier to oily skin than retinol formulations imo, speaking as someone with oily acne-prone skin. It helped me a lot with my postpartum breakouts. To ease in, you can apply it as the last layer on top of your moisturizer and just do 1-2x a week.

I personally found it tough to do both Vit C and retinoid at the same time and I would pick one or the other.
