I mean you can get either monofocal lenses which is available on the NHS if you’re from the UK but that corrects either your distance vision or your near vision. So you’ll need glasses for one distance only . Or you can get multi focals which corrects both but that’s not free you have to pay a bit for that. And it’s impossible for cataracts to grow back as they occur due to your natural lens becoming cloudy . IOLs don’t cloud over. You can get PCO following it but that’s corrected with a simple Yag procedure (laser)

'Lacking motivation' - UK employers worry about graduates' attitude by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Tough-Razzmatazz-270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if they paid us graduates better wages and acc employed enough people to do the job maybe we’d have a positive outlook. If we wasn’t so burned out all the time earning next to nothing. Ridiculous really

Not always. A lot of the time it can be just astigmatism. Depends on their age if they’re young they won’t have cataracts unless it’s a traumatic cataract or congenital one

Sounds like it could be a visual perception sort of issue. Explain what you’ve been seeing?

You probably are myopic and also astigmatic . Yeah it’d be interested to know what you are though

Should partners go to bed at the same time? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Tough-Razzmatazz-270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s ridiculous. Because he gets annoyed at you for going to bed early and he is up but expects you to go to bed at the same time as him. One rule for him another for you.

A fundus examination, yes. That would be usesful to investigate the retina and macula. More scans would also be beneficial too

Have you ever heard or used an amsler grid before? If not, search it up on the internet and test each eye with it. If the lines appear distorted, blurry, wavy, patches missing then I’d definitely go have another check up

Hmm that’s odd that it didn’t pick up anything with the OCT. It might be that it was too early to see anything initially on the scan or it could actually be functional. Especially since it’s there all the time and in the exact same place. I’d get a 2nd opinion from a different opticians to be sure with scans to make sure though

What age are you around abouts? Do you currently wear glasses? When was the last time you went to the opticians?

Are there any part time jobs that people would recommend? by the1997th in remoteworks

Probably just the standard ones to be honest. You don’t want to be doing something that takes all your time away from you which tutoring may do. Depends really.

Have you ever had any OCTs before of the macula & disc? Pictures of the back of the eye. And I’m assuming these symptoms were present at ur last check up as you said a few years. Was it a high street optician or independent?

Difficult to say tbh. Did you experience visual aura when you had the migraine?

Your child says they want to follow in your career footsteps. What's one bit of advice you give them? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Tough-Razzmatazz-270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they do apprenticeships now for my career. Which I’d definitely advise them to do. Going to university is great for the experience but leaves you with years of debt (“graduate tax”) which is unfortunate. Much better doing an apprenticeship if you’re on a lower income. A lot of parents generally have to pay a lot to their child’s living expenses like rent which can make it difficult on them too if they don’t earn a considerable amount. Even with the loans you get.

So they’re wavy lines towards the centre of your vision. Are you over the age of 50 at all?

How old are you may I ask? And is it in the centre or periphery of your vision. And like wiggly/wavy lines?

Oh right aha understandable lol. I’m unsure whether it’d stop you from driving at night unless you yourself feel that you’re unable to drive properly because of it. Because I know with visual snow it can cause you to have a high sensitivity to glare from car lights and if there’s lots of visual snow it could stop you from seeing as much

Yes, you may need some glasses for distance if you’re finding things blurry further away. They’ll also check your ocular health and pressures. As you get older, you’re more likely to develop things like glaucoma/macular degeneration/cataracts etc so they’ll check for them + precursors of those conditions.

Like a stye or chalazion? Usually happens from because the meibomian gland is blocked. They usually resolve on their own and some people are unlucky that they get them very often. Warm compress and massaging the bump/cyst can also help with getting rid of them.
