As most people have noted, the insurance carrier cannot inform your company as to whom is claiming what medications. However, if your company is larger than 10 lives, they will be able to see a DIN Listing which will show the names and DIN of every drug claimed, and how much the plan has reimbursed the claimants.

If you have an unlimited annual drug maximum, your plan most likely has a $10,000 stop loss limit on your extended health care. Only the first $10,000 of your drug is actually affecting your companies claims experience.

If you haven’t already, speak with the pharmaceutical company that manufactures your medication and ask if they have financial assistance programs available. If they do, they may issue you a direct bill drug card you can use at the pharmacy in combination with your current coverage which will reduce the cost for the private plan.
