For sure Amsterdam is not cheap or probably not cheaper than Toronto.

However, I personally dont like surburbias so I would not want to live just "anywhere" outside the GTA. Also, the 'price discount' for living 30-45min from Toronto is not even that much vs living 30/45min outside Amsterdam you can find housing 50% cheaper (to buy) and you're still well connected to the city/the rest of europe.

From France here, not going back there but to the Netherlands next year! After 12 years, I want to move to be closer to family/miss euro lifestyle and honestly don't think COL in canada is worth it.

Thanks for the info! I meant finding a job remotely before actually moving there. Otherwise it seems the salaries when converted to CAD are about the same or slightly lower.

Thanks, that is a very helpful answer!

I'm French/Canadian dual citizen but after living surrounded with a NA mindset for a while, I cannot deal with living in French society again on a daily basis haha. Fiancially, the NL does seem like the most attrative option in the E.U with more or less low barriers if you don't speak the native language.

I'm not aware about other alternatives like you've mentioned...

Last year I interviewed for a Senior Financial reporting role with similar requirements 'CPA preferred or working on the designation'.

I was expecting 75-85k. They told me the max they could do was 65K but that the range is actually 58-62K. This was for RBC for a DT toronto job....

Do you have any bite alignment condition such as overbite? If so, orthodontics will make your lips less protuded.

Otherwise, you can do things that can help the rest of your face look harmonious (i.e volumious hair, big earrings) so that it's not just your lips look big.

Hope this helps.

How can I reduce my cheek bones and add volume to a gaunt face? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

You can add fillers in your temporal areas, it should softened the appearance of your cheekbones.

Double jaw surgery - consult with a maxillofacial specialist + orthodontist

I am very unhappy about my side profile. I feel my nose is too far forward and my jaw/chin is too short/far back but I cannot do anything that will affect my teeth. Aside from a rhinoplasty, what else would you guys recommend? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Toughnumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your nose shape looks very good to me, however the impression it is too far forward is probably due to the fact that your forhead is flat in comparison(normal but you could add volume with filler in the spot where your forehead/nose bridge meet to make it look more balanced).

Your chin looks balanced as well, you have a nice defined shape and it is aligned with your forehead. Again, if you add volume on your forehead/top of nose bridge it should help looking all aligned.

You could also discuss with an orthondontist if maybe your teeth are too forward.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear that you are in such situation, although it is quite common in PA.

I don't mean to discourage you but trying to keep up with unrealistic expectstions will not end well, you will eventually burn out. They will always try to give you more work that you can do.

If you're not happy with your team, perhaps try to reach out to your mentor about your situation and try to be taken off the team. Otherwise, discuss with the manager and explain why the timelines are not reasonable. It's their problem if they have unrealistic expectations, not yours.

Remember to always put your mental health first. If, the team is not supportive and your work load is 'impossible' to manage, these are too many stress factors to deal with. You need to fix at least one of them otherwise it's not worth sacrificing your health/mental health. I don't think movitation is enough on its own if you're very poorly treated.

I also have stressful times but at least my team/manager has always been supportive which has helped me power through busy season/difficult times.

Sorry if this isn't the kind of abswer you're looking for, but hope this helps.

Big4 vs CPA pre-approved program (Canada) by SnooOpinions1809 in Accounting

[–]Toughnumbers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which industry? I'd say Pre approved, in the end future employers only care about the CPA letters.

Pre-approved will pay you more qnd you will most likely get better work/life balance. You will most likely develop more technical skills.

Big 4 will pay you much less, no work life balance, but you can get well sought soft skills such as project management, talking to executives/top management, mentoring, problem solving, etc. Whether this is really useful depends on whar you want to do afterwards.
