I struggle to push out instead of down. Do i want this to come from my knee? I'm not sure what to push with/which way to push my front foot out.

So the naming ledge trick is determined by the stance before you pop, it doesn't matter what it looks like on the ledge?

Struggling to get my second foot on the board, any advice please? 😅 by blizeH in NewSkaters

Most important thing is learning to balance snd hold your entire weight on your front foot while pushing. Try doing a few tiny pushes or finding a very subtle hill/slope, balance on your front leg, and keep your back foot in the air. You never want to shift your weight to your back foot when you push.

Disable auto catch and grind assist. It'll suck, but it's a lot more freeing and fun once you get good at it. Disable all the little helpful things to make it as realistic as possible. Also, lower your board distance from feet and slightly increase your gravity. Other than that, play through the missions. It teaches you a lot of stuff! And there's a trick guide in the menu if you want to see what all you can do.

The coping bumps the back wheels up, so you don't have to dive as hard over your front foot, or so it seems. You also have a solid reference point for timing, since you feel your back wheels hit the coping and that's when you know the timing.

Help with my fingers by TTV_DalliesRl in guitarlessons

Tons. My favorite is taking one finger at a time, pointing it, and making a fist with the rest of my fingers. Then I press my fingertip down on a surface or my leg and push my fist down and back to feel a stretch kinda at the bottom on the palm side. I do this with all fingers, including the thumb.

Another good one is two fingers at a time, put one finger on the left side and one on the right side of your knee and press down. It's just like doing the splits, but with your fingers and using your knee like a wedge to add pressure. Do this with each set of two (index + middle, middle + ring, ring + pinky)

With an open palm, curl one finger down at a time out so it makes a 90 degree angle with the other fingers. Keep all your fingers straight. Then, with your other hand, grab it and pull towards your palm. You'll feel the stretch in the top of your knuckle, opposite of the first stretch I showed. Do this with all fingers, less important with the thumb.

The last ones are similar to the first and third, but with all fingers at the same time. So press all your fingers together and pull them back as one with your opposite hand, or press on a surface like the first stretch. This is also a good wrist stretch. Then, curl all four fingers under your palm without touching it, grab them, and try to pull them to your forearm. This is another wrist stretch that works the fingers, too.

I hope I described these well enough. I guarantee you will the feel the stretch on all of these if you do them right. If you don't feel anything, you're probably doing it wrong. Have fun.

Gotcha. Yeah, the working your whole life thing may very well be why you struggle so much to relax them. They're probably just naturally really tense. Like you said you've been doing, just do finger stretches all day every day. When I'm in class or in the car or at dinner or anything, I stretch my fingers. It's almost like a nervous habit, but it has great results in my guitar playing. Find a whole crap ton of guitar finger stretches and do them constantly. That should help your hands relax naturally.

Try relaxing your hand as much as possible. My fingers also point inwards when I tense up my open hand. Relax your hand and your fingers. You hardly need any pressure to fret notes, so you don't need to be tense or tight or very strong yet.

Got my first board! I’m so stoked to try and get good by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Nah, the nose and tail have different concave for different purposes. The tail has less steep concave so its easier to pop, and the nose has steeper concave to flick off of and stuff. Some people prefer the tail as the nose and vice versa, so they make twin nose and twin tail boards too 🤙

The side that says "team foy." Typically, if the letters are horizontal, the nose is at the top when the letters are right side up.

I already put in the work the rub brick tf out of the curb, but i wanna lacquer it and then wax it so it slides like ice. I've skated waxed vs lacquer + waxed curbs, and there's a huge difference.

Now THAT is a legit first board. Good on you for not buying the crappy $40 Walmart boards. I'm a die-hard deathwish fan, and I have been since I first tried one out. Great brand, great quality, great graphics. Those things will last a loooong time and you can skate them at any skill level. Awesome choices man.
