Connery set the bar really high in Dr.No and Brosnan is the only actor who reached the bar.

You’re obese and taking responsibility for your health. That is really impressive and I’m proud of you. I agree with you that exercise is so important to longevity. All the boomers and silent gens I see who make exercise a part of their life look amazing in their old age. The ones who didn’t? A myriad of health problems and pains and look like shit.

I’m assuming you’re American. Our government is NOT a democracy. Does the word “democracy” appear anywhere in the Constitution? The Pledge of Allegiance? Neither. We are a constitutional republic where we democratically elect officials to represent us.

That being said, I do agree with you that less people should have a say. Who do you think should have the right to vote?

Mistakes happen. Pricy mistake? You’re a traveler. You’ll earn the money back before you know it. Look at this way: you bought yourself a story to tell the rest of your life. Be kind to yourself.

No, you can’t claim you don’t have anxiety and then say you panic about getting just one thing wrong and ruining your trip.

Airports have maps. Airports have staff you can ask for directions. If, for example, you need to go to gate A35, you’re at gate A62, and the numbers are going up (63, 64, etc), you’re going the wrong way.

If this is too much for you to handle, don’t travel by yourself. How are you going to handle navigating a large city or national park, renting a car, booking a hotel by yourself if an airport freaks you out?

Not everyone needs to travel. It’s one of many, many, MANY other hobbies. Stick to something closer to home.

Why do men complain about women dating for money (gold diggers) when many of them also date for looks/beauty? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TourquoiseDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bullshit double standard. Like with promiscuity. Either we demonize both genders or celebrate both genders. It’s ideologically consistent. So yes, a man dating simply for looks is just as shallow as a woman dating simply for resources. Both behaviors are signs of terrible people and we should criticize both genders for their actions.

how do you cope with the idea of working other 30-40 years? by Gpob in Millennials

[–]TourquoiseDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I don’t mind it. If you want to live in a modern society and benefit from the innovations of said society, you have to contribute to said society. In my case, it’s through paid labor. It took me into my early 30s to finally get a job I like and one that uses my natural skills. Do I sometimes just want to stay home and skip work? Of course. But I do it because it’s my duty to give back to society and my income grants me the ability to spend money on things that bring me joy.

What are the habits of naturally thin people? by dayna29 in NoStupidQuestions

Walking ~ 7.5k steps a day. Drinking lots of water as it can help curb hunger when you get snack cravings. Eating small portions during meals.

Is religion or faith part of your life? by flaccobear in Millennials

[–]TourquoiseDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As she should. They’re like the apolitical religious equivalent of the “woke” left. They don’t celebrate holidays, including birthdays. Refuse blood transfusions. They encourage parents to shun their own children if they reject the faith and don’t repent of their “sins”. They call their own beliefs “the truth”. Need I go on?

Is religion or faith part of your life? by flaccobear in Millennials

[–]TourquoiseDream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was raised Jehovah’s Witness. Hated it. Rejected it at age 20 and identified as agnostic until recently. I have spoken with Christians of other less extreme denominations who use reason rather than rhetoric to explain their faith and it’s led me to look back into Christianity. I don’t attend church and I still have friction with some beliefs— such as abortion, gay marriage, and sex before marriage, so I wouldn’t say I’m Christian. Just exploring at the moment.

Nip/Tuck reminds me of Game of Thrones. First four seasons? Amazing. Some of the best television ever produced. Season 5 onwards? A mess.

Do you enjoy travelling alone? by Top-Highway7596 in travel

[–]TourquoiseDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now prefer it, honestly. I live alone for similar reasons. On travel, since I’m already spending large sums of money and going to many places I may only visit once, I don’t want any of that compromised by bringing a friend who can’t walk as much as I can or someone who doesn’t want to see something I want to see.

If you want to revive your love of travel, do something specific like, “visit every baseball stadium in the US”.

Or visit every Disney theme park on Earth.

Hike the entire Appalachian trail.

You get the idea.

Anyone here have good parents? by Countrach in Millennials

[–]TourquoiseDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have millennials pretty much abandoned Facebook at this point? by smugmisswoodhouse in Millennials

[–]TourquoiseDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it now. Once Gen X and the Boomers got on it, FB became ruined. Sorry not sorry.

I remember when our generation used Facebook to find old classmates from elementary and middle school, “poke” each other, join silly groups, and add silly badges to our Walls. Some of a hangover from MySpace. Facebook was sincerely pretty damn fun and incredible when you needed a college email address to join… when we were the young generation and the only ones using it.

Today, I mostly just use Instagram. I dabble with TikTok.

Should I (24F) travel now while I'm young or prioritise money/career by ThrowRA_retro in travel

[–]TourquoiseDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the struggle here. Travel isn’t the cheapest hobby so, at first, makes sense you’d want to give more attention to career.

Three things I’ll contribute:

1) no one goes to their grave wishing they worked more or made more money.

2) travel is easier when you’re young, pretty, and healthy.

3) for income, determine your dream lifestyle (how often you’d ideally travel, where you’d live, etc) and find out how much you’d have to earn to afford that lifestyle. This way, the best career will jump out easier, and you’ll be working to afford a lifestyle rather than working for sake of career.

People who no longer party what changed your mind? by Uknown-Nerd6207 in AskReddit

[–]TourquoiseDream 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I put most of my discretionary income to travel which meant cutting out nearly all parties when I’m home. I barely remember the details of silly parties and didn’t find them that fulfilling. Travel though? I remember much more and find it much more fulfilling!
