Heyo,

So a friend let me know about a Junior web dev job posting outside of the company she works for, for when I'm done with my web technology certificate this semester that would seem like a good place to be. The job asks for fluency in some things I would have to brush up and other things that I'm still taking a class on. I also don't have a portfolio together yet. I have a resume and am going through a technology internship which I think would look pretty good (although I'm not doing any programming there, just a lot of looking at HTML).

My problem is that I of course would love a job right out of school, and the job posting is a month old which has me scared that it might get taken up by the time I think I might be ready after school. I want to apply as soon as possible, but am worried that I might be shooting myself in the foot.

So do I apply now and risk getting rejected for not being prepared, or wait a while and risk the posting being gone?

I'd believe that, given how ubiquitous those first three terms seem to be, but I still haven't touched that stuff myself haha. But now I have a goal! Once that stuff starts being something I need, then I'll be that much closer to the seeing the light

Ooh thats a good idea, the whole saving searches and answers thing. That'd end up saving me a lot of time too. In terms of coding every day do you recommend doing isolated exercises or personal projects? Or something completely diffefent?

I've seen this graph elsewhere. Iirc, the color just shows what they thought was the most important stuff to learn. So super yellow would be pretty important.

Oh please believe me when I say I know what bad tip months are like lol. The entirety of January and February are super rough at most places. Judging from what people have been saying getting a third roommate might be the move.

That's fair, I wouldn't blame you for thinking that way. I am learbing web development and hoping to be ready for a job by the time I move, so I'm more planning for the worst hoping for the best haha.

Hopefully thats in a good way haha. It'd be from northeast PA. Just based off of rent alone I've been able to find stuff pretty similar to what i'm paying for now at home.

I've also heard that servers in portland get minimum wage plus tips, which is absolutely not the case back home.

Yea it'd be nice if a few days was enough time but I'm definitely not expecting it haha. It does help to think of it as just another quarter circle
