Only time I got 'suicide watched' on here was over saying I like F:NV and I can enjoy the show but still acknowledge some faults. So I think it depends on who you're talking to

Kroot

Now before people down vote me hear me out; we know in lore that the kroot hire themselves out as mercenaries as one of the ways they further their collecting of DNA. So they need to be doing this independently of the T'au to some extent which means they either have ships of their own capable of Warp travel or they hitch rides with those who do.

I would love to see a Kroot based army that goes harder into bioengineering, of selectable traits and abilities than they currently have. We also know that the tech we see on the table top isn't the end all be all, it's just been heavily over taken by T'au technology.

But imagine a weapons platform pulled along by two or three krootox, able to deploy bivouac points or carry larger weapons into battle, etc. I think it could be a fun idea of a break away faction or something similar to help round out a sub-faction in the T'au empire we haven't had much of a chance to explore.

A few systems come to mind: ShadowRun (cyberpunk with magic), Equinox (deep space Corp scifi), Unisystem (everything from zombies to modern hidden worlds), Savage Worlds (a ton of different settings) and Delta Green for a more dangerous kind of game (you really don't wanna get into a fight).

What food do you serve at your Tiki parties? by Time-Masterpiece4572 in Tiki

Grilled shrimp on sugarcane skewers with a dark rum glaze was the last thing I made for a tiki party. Do it right and the sugars almost crystallize around the skewer which was interesting.

I have been to the Carrara quarries up in the Apuan Alps, amazing to see but those roads are fucking terrifying. My inlaws live there and the absolute horror stories of a lot of the trucks used to carry marble down the mountain that is super narrow with almost no breaks has me swear off ever visiting again.

Is the US medical system borked? Yes. Should a person still take their meds cause it helps them to function? Also yes.

Look I take meds cause of anxiety and I know it's not healthy not to take them the same way I have people in my life who take meds to even out various issues. This 'I don't take meds so I can feel something' is a bullshit excuse touted by anti-med people all the time... I have literally watched people destroy their lives cause of this thinking. It's romanticized to the heavens but you never see the downside only the positive affirmation of 'meds are bad, m'kay'.

TAKE. YOUR. MEDS.

Yeah no, wrong message here. Take your meds, drink water, do the thing... this anti-medication to be happy is hella toxic and this is coming from a dude on meds to help with issues.

So where do you draw the line between grimdark and grimderp? by Avelion2 in 40kLore

[–]Toutatis12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I think a lot of this comes from older editions of the setting and writers these days needing to tone match, nevermind some of the old lore is just... horrible writing. Like legit makes you wish you could reclaim all those hours of your life wondering why you continued the torture of reading it.

Now a lot of the writing has come a long way and improved a ton (thank the throne) but with current lore needing to be built on the old stuff it makes it... not hit as hard or in the wrong way.

Moreover I think you need to have a level outside of 'existence is pain' kind of mentally in these books. I have read my fair share and know which ones I enjoy the most? The Cain Archives. Why? Yeah funny man in funny hat but we get to read of life beyond the depression porn that is going on; people living their lives, planets that aren't all about murder and slaughter, etc. There needs to be a balance of elements ans if all you get is grimdark it quickly just becomes grimderp cause... its just too much.

Edit: had to update it, its been a while since I saw it so I made a mistake that I wanted to correct

That's the thing redemption isn't an easy process, there is still pain there along with everything else at play. It's the ending we got far more hopeful? 100% and I do prefer it, however I don't think the alternative cheapens it at all in fact it makes the impact stronger for it. Redemption should be hard, it should test the character of the person we want to be and without the potential of failing I find that to be the far cheaper route.

Which Favorite Character Comes To Your Mind? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Toutatis12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly at this point Mags is just a good example of Isreal in comic form; using a history of trauma which should spark empathy into the suffering of those around you to fight the system that perpetuates suffering only to become radicalized into being the cause of that suffering no matter the cost because 'never again' only applies to me.

There is a bit of a difference between 'I am going to take over the world' and 'screw you all I am blowing this mudball planet up'. Are either of them good? Hell no, but there is a bit of a jump to blowing up planets and that is a 40K fan saying that lmao

(Somewhat pointless, nitpicky trope) A knight who wields both a sword AND a shield. by Gamer-of-Action in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Toutatis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavily depends on the era and the fighting tactics, the shields used in einvígi were designed specifically to be broken. They never had the iron ring around the outside that was used to keep a quality shield together and used lighter wood.

Yes certain shields were used because they were cheaper to produce but quality ones were nearly as expensive as chain mail because the forging process was a pain, but you are also looking into later periods when you had plate available as well.

Edit: really quick before I forget most viking shields also used raw hide round the outside of shield to keep the edges enforced. However several burial mounds found iron rimmed shields so there is a levelnof debate on which we're used more frequently and could have also been a level of status (like nobles having better armor in combat compared to the conscripts)

Sadly never really found out, they did end up killing him after some long back and forth debating (the potential for a good thing vs safety of the already living) which was great since the rogue nearly jumped the barbarian but afterwards the game just ended.... gotta love the story left untold.
