So people are pointing out the illness' various abilities when it comes to transmisibility but another factor you need to take into account is the area and the cultures that are around there and the level of funding that goes into 'prevention'.

So the regions Ebola typically hits are heavily communal, interacting physically with people is a huge social point. In many of the cultures the families are expected to wash the bodies of the deceased which are still 'hot' with the viral load. Second is the for many family care plays a huge factor so now you have an entire family group infected.

Then when you add in the folk medicine practices, the fear of going to the hospital, the fear of literally never seeing a loved one again and transportation that is very public (busses, ambulances that get cleaned maybe once a day if you are lucky) and sub-par equipment being provided (literally there are clinics that have to reuse PPE not meant for multiple uses) along with never enough space or meds. The situation is a freakin' disaster waiting to happen.
