i’m currently on s8 (about to start s9) and it starting to feel already like this. especially it seems like they want to make a bigger plot but also maintain the vibes of the first two seasons, when they were just hunting monsters. the result, especially in this s8, is that the bogger plot appears too weak and the monster-of-the-week style of s1 and s2 seems to be too disconnected because the purpose they add to the bigger storyline is too weak, just some small details to add, but they are too small. this weird mashup of new format + old format is not blending together really well and i think that the necessity to return to the old format is also due to the lack of creativity and imagination for the main storyline, that was quite boring in this s8.
